Something new

This film has quite dense animation, what with the spectacular visuals of movement and the garish colours that explode across the screen. It also has quite the interesting take on modern politics, while continuing to by entertaining for the younger viewing audiences. It takes a lot of the primary details regarding the Twits from the original source material, but having a new story for them to enjoy.

Horrible

When the original material is a revered classic, why mess with it? Turning The Twits American, then tossing in Johnny Vegas, makes no sense. The charm, the bite, the Dahl-ness... all gone. Roald Dahl would emphatically not have approved. An utterly joyless and soulless reimagining that misses every mark.

After the first 5 minutes...nope.

Just terrible. How could this (ab)use the Roald Dahl name? I guess its just now part of the Netflix sausage machine.

I can sort of understand "Americanising" the original story but this just ends up weak and too mangled with annoying characters. My 8 and 11 year olds were pretty bored throughout. The only saving grace I can come up with is the animation is ok.

Awfully

This movie is bad!! It's not the Roald Dahl's the twits, it just odd and after 15 minutes we were ready to switch it off!! The story is just nonsense and the animation is strange! It would have been such a good story to adapt into a kids movie, but it doesn't hit any of the marks! Disappointed!don't bother!

Lots of laughs

A silly and fun with lots of laughter for adults and kids alike. It's inspired by Dahl but not the actual story but has the same kind of "revolting" humour you expect from a Dahl children's story. The animation is fun with lots of bright colours and the characters are fun to get to know. Hint: watch with kids and enjoy seeing them crack up.

Is this for children or adults?

It is very confusing that the animation sometimes feels like it's for adults not for children. Sometimes disturbing scenes and not funny at all. We couldn't really connect and after some time it just became a video for the background we started doing different things. And like is it a musical animation or not? It's so mixed up with everything that i just couldn't connect. Good potential and good idea but nope they mixed up so many ideas and the plot became so boringly confusing.

Confusing, Boring and Sloppy

This movie serves as a sort of sequel to the original book "The Twits" by Roald Dahl. It has references to the original film multiple times and has a completely different plot. It also starts out where the first book left out, when The Twits were upside down. There are some scenes however, where they take some ideas from the first book which is really confusing.

This entire movie was really boring to watch. It has so many plot lines mixed up together that it's just not fun anymore. And the actual pranking that the Twits do to each other in the first book is hardly even there in this movie.

Summary of the movie: A mixed-up, confusing convoluted plotline that is ultimately boring and sloppy to watch.

Recommended to watch once if you're interested or haven't read the first book, because you don't really need to read the book to see it.

A great lesson against hatred

This film is a great teaching tool when it comes to explaining to children in particular how terrible and senseless hatred is.

This film holds up a mirror to all the stupid people who made the wrong decision in the elections, who have prejudices against others. Who are afraid of the unknown, who let idiots brainwash them!!!! Wonderful!

Save yourselves!!

This is one of the worst films I think I have ever seen.

Watched it as a family ands the laughs were few and far between. More raised eyebrows and did I really just watch that...!!!

Not a single redeemable factor, should have stuck to the book. At least then this would have shown some respect to the author and the licences that Netflix hold.

An absolute travesty!

Honestly this is one of the worst films I have seen in the past decade.

It could completely divulges from the book.

The storyline is all over the place with no coherent structure.

Even my kids were utterly confused and bored by this.

Save yourself the bother and go for a walk through broken glass instead. That would be more enjoyable than this film.

Awful awful adaption

Completely change the great story of the twits - just why? Story all over the place and disjointed, songs out of tune. Really poor.

Sat down to watch this with a 6, 11 and 13 year old. All voted to switch it off after 20mins of our life... we will never get back. Even the animation drawings were odd. Avoid!

WTF

Wow. Am I stoned or is this the oddest, repulsive movie of all time? From the start, the plot of this trash got stuck in my head and disappeared. Not at any point did this disjointed mess of a movie make since. The characters are portly drawn and the writing is all over the place. Would recommend a bong hit before watching if you need to.

Haters going to hate

I realize that a lot of people were really disappointed that this adaptation changed some of the characters around and wasn't fully true to the book. Typically I am on the same side and dislike it when a story is heavy altered from the original. That being said, I thought this was a really cute take on a really great story. If people would look at this for what it is, a movie INSPIRED by a Roald Dahl story and gave it a chance on it's own, they may just see what I did, a wonderful story to help teach children that empathy, kindness and caring is always worth the price for. I also like that it talks about family being about more than blood. I really enjoyed this movie.

The movie does match the book

The Twits is perhaps Roald Dahls worst book and it blows my mind that anyone thought it would make for a good movie. That is the only "pro" of the movie in that it matches the book in terms of unlikeable characters and unbearable story. The cons are the previously mentioned characters, story, and literally everything else. You may find one or two things you like in the movie, but thats not nearly enough to sit through 90 minutes of just aweful.

What a load of rubbish, and insult to the book.

Honestly, I think three stars is too high for this, but I'll be generous as the animation is colourful and well done.

I don't usually leave a review unless I've watched it from start to finish, but Netflix's The Twits was too bad for me to get to the end. It didn't take me long to dislike this, as it was made very clear that this was not going to be based on the book, with the introduction of the Twits owning a failed amusement park, or something like that, to be honest I couldn't make much sense of it. I soon hated it more with the whiny American accents on what is a quintessentially British book that I adored in my childhood. The only British accent was Johnny Vegas, whom I can't stand.

I know this is a kids' film, and perhaps children who've never read the book will enjoy it, but a lovable movie for young and old alike, bringing out the magic of a Roald Dahl classic, it is not.

Called Twits but nothing like the book

Ruined and turned into dog muck. Looked forward to this as I always enjoyed the book but this was ugly animation and nothing like the book. Didn't do it justice in anyway despite the cast for voices. Lost the humour and random nonsense story but yet seemed so easy to animate and do justice to. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs combined with a toilet to make this waste.

Great animated film!

Looks great! Fantastic story! Love how weird and original it is. I know it's adapted, but love where it went. The original book is fun but it's mostly just a bunch of pranks and thirties in a lot of those. Napkin might be my favorite, but the two kids are fantastic. So many subtle jokes too, can't wait to do a rewatch to catch more things. As the mugglewump says, call me big daddy!

Much needed story for times we live in

There's much talk about empathy but not much to show for it. Kids, teenagers and adults don't really practice putting themselves in other people's shoes, and we have a hard time imagining that others have feelings as much or bigger than our own, not mention imagining other people's perspectives as possible and true. So moral of the story is brilliant. It's a silly story with all it's juvenile themes, like a kids story ought to be to reach them. Cast is brilliant and the overall vibe and look is brilliant. Highly recommend.

The right kind of weird.

Great cast and refreshingly weird. Feel like there's a lot of hate for updating the original as if the popular version of Charlie wasn't updated from the original . Heck, any modern copy of the book left out the weird colonial themes. Anyway, gross jokes that kids and adults will love along with a great messa.

Moral with every childs best jokes

This is the movie where best jokes are for your 8-10 year old still laughing on buttjokes with a moral story of being lovable. Unique story in every way, not the standard disney story. Relax, turn off your judgmental disney attitude of cuteness and enjoy.

My daughter (9) says her favorite message was that they stand to each other.

The Twits

My teacher read The Twits to me when I was in grade 3. I still remember everyone laughing at all the gross & nasty things in the book. I read it again to my son a few years ago because I had fond memories of it. He really enjoyed it too.

The book doesn't have a traditional movie plot. Unlike Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which feels like it was written to be a movie. I think the filmmakers did a good job of keeping the spirit of the book while adapting it into a fun family movie. We laughed a lot.

Fun

Fun movie, animation was amazing. Same vibes as Coraline which does have a creepiness to it, will probably weird some kids out but, as an adult I thought it was pretty good with a great lesson as well. I can see why some people didn't enjoy it but some of the reviews i've read are very petty, I don't think it deserves that at all.
