The Blind Bandit

I once tried to convince a friend to watch avatar and i said "toph is the goat" and they said "who's that?" and i told her it was a little blind girl. And she said, "oh... a blind girl?"

that is EXACTLY what the writers of this show wanted people to say when they heard that it was a little blind girl. Like "aww she's blind?" but then when you watch the episode "The Blind Bandit" and you understand how harmful of a stereotype that can be. The fact that they chose the template of "12 year old, tiny, blind girl" to make the most badass character of all time and strongest character in the show, was straight up cinematic genius. Crazy style. And even in the show, she's underestimated by her parents and everyone around her, including katara when she enters the ring. Then she obliterates anybody who stands in her way. Absolute cinema.

Probably the best episode of the first 6 in S2. Toph's introduction was amazing and imo she really is one of the most badass characters in any animated tv show. Overall a very entertaining and funny episode.

I think Toph's story in The Last Airbender is one we can all look up to. She is blind yes, but she is so much more than her disabilities. In fact, she would not be the same person without them. She can get a little arrogant sometimes, but not every character is without his or her faults.

Aang finds his earthbending teacher in the most unlikely of places, and it turns out to be for his good.

Other than that, this is a great episode with some enjoyable moments. Toph and Aang have a mini rivalry, Sokka continues his Sokka-ness, and Katara gets to kick some boys butts.
