Season 1: WHAT A SLOW BURN (7.5/10)
The quality of "Doom Patrol" Season 1 is divided into two, with the first half being okay and the rest being fantastic. Thank goodness for Alan Tudyk's Mr. Nobody - for being a huge highlight especially for most of the okay episodes - and for that therapy episode. After that episode, the show got much better. The last half is fantastic, showing character-driven, mystery-filled narrative mixed with some great weirdness.
Errrrr, it's ok.
Not a 10.
After last episode's climax, I expect for more than this. It is fun, as always, but less porwerful. Too much was stuck in an hour-long story. Mr. Nobody seems to be not so charming. Maybe I just got a little tired of all these.
Still a good episode. Chief always has more secrets. Looking forward to the next season. Hope Mr. Nobody will return.
*That* is how you do a final episode
I've never appreciated such a sustained assault on the 4th wall.
Not an aficionado of the graphic novels but I've developed a faith in DC for delivering novel and enjoyable TV. This was no exception... charming, touching, surreal and (as usual) hilarious. The episode's disruptive approach to traditional pacing also ultimately made it feel like a piece of two distinct halves allowing for even tighter storytelling (a rarity in an era of sprawling multi-seasonal shows).
Thanks to everyone who brought this and the whole season to fruition. Clint Mansell's work on the score also seems criminally underrated in the way it set such a contrastingly serious tone to the shows often ridiculous narrative.
Can't wait to see how it develops

This is the best timeline EVER!
Diane Guerrero deserves an Emmy nomination at the least!
Monologuing Mr Nobody keeps a tight grip on the plot and leads us down the proverbial garden path. His EEEEVIL narration recaps the series: Buddy would be proud.
You thought you already had the origin story? HAH! Like Ogres and Onions, the Patrol has LAYERS. Niles is forced to admit ulterior motives and to get deeper into the reason he brought them all together. Admiral Whiskers and Booger's Roach wreak havoc on Danny the Street while Morden runs around drinking straight from the bottle, as terrified as nobody can be.
So, why don't we wait for Super-duper Dude, BatMa'am and Mr Running Shoes to save the plot? Fuggedaboutit. This is the Patrol's show. The bad guys are DOOMED!
