"Love Letters of Great Men", which Carrie borrows from the library, was a prop created for the film and no such book existed during production. Demands from fans wishing to purchase the book led to many editions of a "Love Letters of Great Men" book being published. The official tie-in version was compiled by John C. Kirkland and released the same day as the film, and other editions were compiled by Ursula Doyle and Becon Hill.
Domestically it was the highest grossing R-rated female comedy until Demoiselles d'honneur (2011). However, as of 2018, it is still the highest grossing R-rated female comedy at the worldwide box office.
Carrie's famous desk is now a part of the Smithsonian's permanent collection. Michael Patrick King wrote to the directors of the institution, pleading to borrow the desk to re-create Carrie's apartment.
The Vogue fashion shoot used the real Vogue team: photographer Patrick Demarchelier, hairstylist Serge Normant, make-up artist Gucci Westman, prop stylist Mary Howard, West Coast editor Lauren Howell, contributing editor Plum Sykes, and editor-at-large André Leon Talley (who also coached Sarah Jessica Parker on how to pose authentically).
