some interesting choices and some pandering

Their were some dodgy choices but overall, Olivia Colman ("The Crown") was not even the best woman in The Crown Helena Bonham Carter stole that crown, she was fantastic. Chernobyl was amazing best drama of the year and so chilling to watch. really want to see Once Upon a Time in America now brads won. Irishman was not as good as viewing figures have you believe, C.G.I was so bad. Taron Egerton was great as Rocket man and even sung the music (bonus),he is a top actor these days. Eddie Murphy was not the star of his latest movie, Da'Vine Joy Randolph stole the show with her singing. Maridge story was an uninspiring story, even though the two stars acting was good, the story was pretty poor and she cheated on her husband with a stoner drop out (fingers count don't they?) and he cheater on her with a younger woman (he was winner but ended up crying). Laura Dern acting was not that great but she did manage to put makeup on and looked a lot better than her co star. 1917 looks promosing. Rick gervais cheered me up, he was like on fire, with top jokes or maybe just home truths. At least most people got the jokes apart from Tim Alen who still does not understand the joke.

    Only good because of Ricki.

Loved Rickie Gervais' parts. That's all I watched. Hilarious! He's the best.

Phoenix shines, Tom and Ellen are honored and foul mouthed Ricky drops F bombs!

As always every year before the big meal "The Oscars" I watch the appetizer that being "The Golden Globes", this year's edition the 77th one was okay and funny with blunt and outspoken Gervais as the host once again who was bleeped out many times as his tongue used foul words. Anyway many awards went as expected as most of the TV awards went to the streaming networks, however the mighty "Netflix" was shut out with "Hulu" and "Amazon" products and works being winners. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" rained king with it winning best musical comedy, and the man Brad Pitt winning best supporting actor award, this gem looks like the "Oscar" front runner for best picture as the "Irishman" was shut out! Joaquin Phoenix rightfully won best actor in a drama for his slick cruel twisted origin take on "The Joker" . And mister nice guy Tom Hanks was honored and he got emotional, plus Ellen was honored the Carol Burnett award as she's a gal that does good kind things for people. A big surprise was war picture "1917" winning best drama. Overall good and tasty a good lead to the always main course "Academy Awards".

Ricky Gervais is the only reason why I even tried to watch it ...

I watched Ricky then four awards were given and I couldn't take it any longer. I continued but watching Ricky was the only part I enjoyed. I watched 50% of these shows that were nominated and they either sucked or was tolerable. The shows that won, I never watched because the plots were not even interesting and the show itself was stupid. The shows that won shouldn't have even been nominated. This is why I quit watching the stupid awards years ago. But I love Ricky and thought, they can't censor him. So I'll keep going and try to get at least half way through. The show is WAY TO LONG, BORING, and no one who deserves to win actually Wins. Ellen DeGeneres and Tom Hanks definatley shouldn't have won. I hate both of their work, now. Years ago they were pretty descent, but now they just suck. I would only watch if I fast forwarded through all the junk and just watched Ricky be Ricky. He is the best! It would of been rated 1 star, but since Ricky was in it, I gave it 3.

    It was Fun

I can't complain too much about the structure but god it is long. 3 hours with commercials every award or few awards. I like to see some of the winners and this year, I thought there were some good choices. The best part of the show was Gervais' humor. It lessened some of the boringness.

Ricky Gervais: You could binge-watch the entire first season of After Life, instead of watching this show. That-that's a show about a man who wants to kill himself because his wife dies of cancer and it's still more fun than this. Okay? Spoiler alert. Um, season two is on the way, so in the end, he obviously didn't kill himself, just like Jeffrey Epstein.
