Clown Nightmare

Last night my wife and I watched this movie. It's about a man who builds a Time Machine with parts he found on the dark web. But it doesn't transport them back in time. Instead, it opens a portal to hell, from which killer clowns spew forth. It's written and directed by a man named Mark Holmberg. I say written, but I don't think it was written, because the dialogue felt improvised. But the actors unfortunately didn't have the acting skill to pull off improv. This movie is bad. Not unwatchable, but bad. It's extremely low budget, and some of the decisions made for lighting and camera angles are straight up perplexing. There are a bunch of clowns, but they all wear the exact same costume and mask. And by costume, what I really mean in lab coat turned backwards and has orange polka dots spray painted onto them. And by a bunch of clowns, I mean the same person is every clown. There is quite a bunch of CGI in this... but it all looks like video toaster plug ins. If you don't like low budget, apparently untrained filmmaking, skip it. But, if you like stuff that's unintentionally hilarious, check it out. 4 out of 10 meathooks.

The acting sucks.

The script appears to be ad-libbed -- or is that just the really bad acting?

Whoever directed this should have his camera(s) taken away and buried in a land fill. He must never work again.

The soundtrack is overly loud and inappropriately dramatic.

It's really one of the worst movies ever made. Ed Wood's films are Orson Welles material compare to this garbage.

This is not an actual movie, it's some odd spontaneously shot and improvised "acting", where there seems to be a significant amount of random B roll footage put in there, where the actors are standing around waiting for their cues. These are not actual actors, and they have zero acting ability. It's just deadpanning scenes where they improv lines, or just stand in place silently. The camera placement is completely random. There is some atrocious attempt at CGI which is more like filters on a phone app. The scenes roughly and constantly cut between takes and the people onscreen have different and unrelated facial expressions. Half the time the people onscreen forgot what they're supposed to be doing in the scenes, they're confused, nearly laughing, looking at the camera expectantly, ad-libbing most lines. The story doesn't even make any sense, it's just scenes spliced together with no regard for continuity. This is a joke and anyone who sees is the butt of it.

This unbelievable life-wasting exercise seems to have been concocted by individuals who should not be allowed a pair of scissors.

I understand the appeal to some of the "so bad it's good" experience... For me that's Troma (even if it is mostly on purpose).

This one barely measures on any kind of meter whatsoever. Every 'actor' seems freshly revived from a deep comatose state. I can't really be bothered to delve into any other aspect of this apparent prank, other than to say, if you're looking for a wacky intergalactic clown movie, look no further than "Killer Klowns From Outer Space". It's goofy as hell... and scary!
