Pakistan should make more about persecuted minorities in Pakistan

This was a bit dull, thought it was going to be about how Hindus suffer in Pakistan, instead the director plays off politics by using the character in India. Ahmadiya muslims, sikhs and hindus suffer a lot in Pakistan and need better coverage than this storyline.

Harsh reality shown in polite manner

Its a good movie; Based on a harsh reality, which is was shown in soft way. So as it could be watched by both Indians and Pakistanis without any discrimination.

Although few things were shown really very softly. e.g. The jail life But still its a very good movie considering the standard of Lolly wood. Acting is good specially the acting of the Nandita Das as mother was awesome. Moreover culture highlight of Thar desert was also good although its far more tough than what shown in the movie.

This movie resulted in creating healthy awareness and as per my info the govt of both India and Pakistan agreed to have the border wired (Except for Kashmir Region Which is a disputed territory as per UN resolution.) so as accidental crossing of border could be stopped.

    Good Documentary type film

I watched this movie a few days back. It deals with the story of a young boy who accidentally crosses the Indo Pak border and lands up in prison in India. Well directed, and well shot. Both the father and the son have acted really well in this movie. However, the movie was a bit slow at times, but that I guess is what you would expect in this type of documentary type film.

Music is very nice, especially the song by Shafqat "Phir Wohi Raste" really stands out. There are also some folk songs which are present in between which are very pleasing to hear.

Overall, a good one time watch.

    Nice Movie

I was unsure about the movie. but when i watched it i was surprised. Directed by Mahreen Jabbar it is a nice film. The acting of the young ramchand is great. All other artists performed well.

There are a few things which should have been checked. 1. The film is slow paced. though it had the gripping element which "Khuda key Liye" lacked badly, it would have been nicer if the film were slightly faster paced.

    2. Noman Ejaz was misfit. He didn't speak in typical rajhistani or sindhi way. A local actor would have done better.

    3. Maria Wasti also performed well but at occasions she spoke urdu like the pakistani way and forgot the typical Indian accent.

    4. The jail supretendent spoke the urdu perfectly didn't even try to change his accent at all which was too bad. Indian people don't speak urdu that way.

    5. In the last scenes when ram chand is being released from Indian jail he was holding a plastic bag with English and urdu written on it. He should have been shown holding a bad with Hindi or better nothing at all written on it.

    6. The ramchad's mother failed to deliver any nice acting. I wonder why she was casted in that role.

Overall the film was great and it worth watching. Expecting more films from the new director

    Great movie; language warning

I went to see Ramchand Pakistani at Nishat the other day and while I have to say, people have yet to learn theater ethics (save the commentary for later, please!), it was fun.

This is only the 3rd Pakistani movie I've ever watched (Quaid, Khuda Kay Liye and this) and it was great. Granted, its nothing like the typical Pakistani Lollywood product, so if you want half-naked dances performed by 50 year-olds (who claim to be 18!), look elsewhere! The movie itself was great. Mehreen Jabbar's first attempt at a feature film and she pulled off the fine details quite nicely. Cinematography, casting, the acting and dialogues were good. Fazal Hussain, the boy who played the younger Ramchand was great - despite his age, his acting was marvelous and he played his role of a boy in prison very well.

Rashid Farooqi was also very good - his character was well rounded executed very nicely as well. All of the people in the cell with Ramchand and Shankar were excellent as well - the environment created and their acting also added to the believability of their situations. Noman Ijaz's character seemed very unnecessary to me.

My only complaint with it was the language. I'm not easily offended or anything, and I can understand that swearing added to the feel of the movie and characters, but come on, someone could have at least given a warning to the people about it! Some people had their kids with them and I don't want to imagine them trying to explain the meaning of the gesture Ramchand (the older one) made! Overall, I really liked the movie. It was an all-round, polished product and though there were some editing issues and a couple unexplained scenes I noticed, I suspect that was because of the censoring in the cinema house. It's based on a true story so that's an added point to ponder.

If nothing else, watch it for the "revival of cinema in Pakistan!" :D
