The thing with Christmas Day is that my wife absolutely wants to watch a Christmas movie. I remember watching the first Christmas Chronicle and it was passable. This sequel on the other hand is much too cheesy for adults to watch. I'm 53 by the way, so 45 years too old to be able to enjoy this kind of movies. But I get it that kids will like this movie, it's well made and it's magical for kids. But I'm not a kid anymore, so watching Darby Kamp and Jahzir Bruno during almost two hours is just too much for me. Those two kids are cringing to watch, I almost had to get my vomit bucket, it was that bad. So in résumé, if you want your offspring to shut up for a couple hours then this is the right movie to do so, but other than that I don't see the point of watching this as a normal adult.
I like the first movie, but The Christmas Chronicles 2 seems like a slapped-together sequel. The writing is lazy and tries to cram in as much exposition as possible in every line to hurry the muddled story along. The characters don't talk or react like normal people would. The villain is also very weak. I'm not quite sure why they cast Julian Dennison as Belsnickel. There is some magic in The Christmas Chronicles 2, but I expected more from Chris Columbus.
I think people are thinking too much into the first film. This is a great family Christmas film. Kurt Russel has done it again with playing an outstanding role of Santa Claus.
The original was cheesy and awesome, this was just cheesy.
The first felt magical and captivating as the interactions with human life, really hit home about the belief required for Christmas.
This film was way over the top with the CGI, the plot was shocking, and the part of Belsnickel was played terribly.
The kid can certainly play the part of a pissed off arsonist on Deapool 2 easily, a disgruntled elf however........no, just no.
Please just watch number 1 again as this film will ruin your Xmas movie night.
