For inspiration, Writer/Director Steven Hancock looked at several different sources. He read the books "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose, "The Longest Winter" by Alex Kershaw, "War in the Ruins" by Edward G. Longacre, and John C. Angier III's World War II memoir, "A 4F Goes to War with the 100th Infantry Division." He also watched miniseries such as "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific," as well as the films "Saving Private Ryan," "Hacksaw Ridge," "The Longest Day," "Patton," and "Windtalkers."
