The storyline, the script, the acting, the raw emotions. It's a masterpiece, deserving every attention. It shows regural people, regular life and how it often isn't easy. The series handles important issues in a way that feels both relatable and very powerful. It should be compulsory watching for young people, especially men. Crying guaranteed.
As I'm seeing a few low reviews on this list, as a Norwegian I'd like to clarify a few things. The show's creator wanted, in large part, to make a show illustrating mental health issues that happen to young men. It's something that doesn't really get touched upon in modern media (although, if you have examples, correct me if I'm wrong). The scene that these people are involved in, are pretty much exclusive to Norway and Sweden in my experience. Putting a V8 engine in a Volve 240, is not something that most people would think to do. But in a Norwegian subculture called "rånere", it's a way of life. Hanging out with your friends, fixing and improving your car, living the easy life. For some American kids, it might be parties when your parents are out of town, or frat parties when you've gone away to college. For the young people in this series, this is their culture. Driving, seemingly endlessly, in a small rural community where the options to stimulate you are limited. It strikes at the core of the youth experience for a lot of people. Your clique. Who you hang out with. What are your common interests? Cars? Girls? Drinking? It's a unique way of how it is to be young. Are they first world problems? Sure they are. But that doesn't mean that they are any less relevant to the human experience. Personally, I love the show and I think it takes some bold steps, like Skam, to bring up important aspects that often don't get depicted as realistically in a TV show.
There is too much sadness and grief in this series.
Therefore, I do not think it is a good serie.
I think it could have been better if it had only focused on interpersonal relationships. Hopefully they will do this in season three and four. Therefore, I give a three in case it lifts up, but I doubt it: p.

I do not understand why everything has to be so sad in this series. The music is sad,the plot is sad,and all the worse happens.
The worst is that it is not done in a way that brings emotions, which is important
when depicting lifes enigmas. I had more hopes when i began watching :p
Never in a million years would I have believed that a drama series about greasers would touch my heart on such a level. I was never interested in their music or cars. But the depiction of heartbreak, friendship, parental abandonment and mental health made my tear channels flood. The series is totally addictive and I lost some sleep binge watching it.
It's been so many years since I've was in the same age as the main characters, but some things never get old and nostalgia always plays some heart strings.
The acting feels very true, not mannered, and for that I take a bow, cause that is always the hardest part, and has destroyed many movies about youth.
Go watch!
