The story involves a demonically possessed CEO of an internet company called Forest who plans to go public and when the company does many lives will be lost. Out to thwart his plan is an investigative journalist and a Shamans daughter who's mother was killed because of the CEO. It is a well acted and the story is intriguing but the long rituals and slow pace takes the edge of it for me. To be honest it is a little too dark for my liking and would have faired better as a movie, but if you enjoy light horror this is a well executed story.
This Korean series that have been watching recently are something else. Entertaining from start to finish.loved it.lovely concept with brilliant performances and highly engaging music and thrill. Complete package this series. Must watch.
This TV series is very well executed in almost every way. Only two minor things distracted me. One was the background song played in episode seven during the recap of the previous episodes which I experienced as a breach of style and irritating even. The second issue is that the university professor was put forward too much absent-minded, too much unorganised therefore it missed the comical note this character was probably supposed to add.
Besides that, the acting of all actors is high level acting; very well directed and with a good story with recognisable themes such as the profit making of big internet companies at the expense of their clients (think of the European law suits against e.g. Google (2019 and 2020) and currently (2021) the Facebook inquiries), the difficulty of changing your karma in life and how much easier it is for most people to curse other people than to send other people blessings.
That for me was the horror presented to us in these series. I was glad this TV series wasn't overloaded with bloody faces, screaming people and stressed-out characters that we see so often in plastic American horror movies. The rituals from different cultures were not ridiculed but presented as part of a way of life in some cultures.
The whole police team came across professionally, Ji-won Uhm and Ji-so Jung both performed their roles with a high credibility. Both characters trying to cope with loosing a loved one and coping with a sort of treason towards those loved ones followed by the realisation of what really happened instead of letting their own made hell take over. The development of Moon-Sung Jung's character is very well acted out and Moon-Sung Jung played his role with convincing calmness.
Also my homage to the acting of Dong-il Sung, Min-soo Jo, Min-Jae Kim and all the other actors and technical crew, writer and director who all made "The Cursed" to what it is: a great show. Thank you all.

Admittedly I've only watched the first 6 episodes, but I'm really enjoying the story up to now. I can see the similarities to Death Note as another reviewer mentioned, but I was reminded of the old movie 'Curse of the Demon' based on the story Casting of the Runes by M.R. James. Our decent heroes stumble upon a strange world of witchcraft where they need to get up to speed on the rules of the game pretty quickly before some truly nasty villains catch up with them and do them harm.
I'm relatively new to Korean dramas, but if you enjoy tales well told (and who doesn't) then give them a try. The stories tend to be more fantastic and melodramatic than their western counterparts, but I enjoy thriller/mystery/fantasy shows so I'm all in. Acting is as good if not better than in western shows and the writing in the shows I've watched so far (Dr. Prisoner and Signal) is well above the usual standard I've grown accustomed to. Perhaps they have trouble spotting the landing and getting the ending of the final episode of their shows to be as satisfying as I'd like them to be, but I'm so busy enjoying the journey that if the ending doesn't quite hit the bullseye then it's there or thereabouts and I'm entertained enough to search for my next Korean show to sample.
NO SPOILERS. It's wonderful to see a supernatural K drama that is dark and serious. Especially when a lot of the shows ruin suspension of disbelief by minimizing the police (kidnap victim is located so they send like 2 detectives instead of showing up in force, that type of thing). Even often used scenes like "crooked executive gets interrogated by police without enough evidence" had a cunning and chess like edge to them. The characters are multidimensional and grow. It's a great show all around.
