Without ever having heard anything about this 2020 horror movie titled "Bloomfield" from writer and director
Brianna Young, then I had the opportunity to sit down and watch it.
Now, I must say that when a movie is written, directed and starring one and the same person, then chances are that you will be in for a lousy movie experience. Sad to say, but the track record just has that tendency. So I wasn't really harboring much of any expectations to "Bloomfield" when I saw that this was one of those movies with the writer, director and star being the same person.
Still, giving "Bloomfield" the benefit of the doubt, I sat down to watch it. And boy was that a mistake on my part. "Bloomfield" is insanely slow paced, monotonous and actually downright pointless and boring.
I found no entertainment in the storyline simply because it took forever in the narrative to go nowhere. So yeah, there was just nothing to enjoy here. And it didn't really help much that the character gallery in the movie was about as interesting as something constructed in a kindergarten arts and crafts class.
As for "Bloomfield" being a horror movie, well that definitely depends on how abstract your definition of the word horror goes.
I am rating "Bloomfield" a generous two out of ten stars.

If you are looking for jump/scare/slasher or gore and that is how you want to review it, move on this ain't for you. Do I feel you should still watch it yes, but don't review it as one of those genre.
As Horror goes this has a slow burn, I would say it takes some time to build. This movie takes an old school horror flavor and places some new twang to it.
I will start off by saying my horror take on this movie is why I didn't give it a 10, no disrespect to the writer, director, or producer ect.. some people have a different perspective of horror. In my opinion this was more if a thriller/horror then a straight up horror film.
There are alot of pros in this film enough for me to log in and review it and enough for me to encourage you to watch.
Acting - as it goes for most for an indie type of movies the acting normallie looks like high school kids spitting out lines and trying to remember what comes next.
But not here the acting in this movie was remarkable from the accents to the delivery of the lines. The parts were played as they should have been. Clear delivery and looking the part.
Production was also well produced along with cinematography. Most if the time when you watch one of these types of movies there is low film production with an airy sound and looks like kids filming a play. This film and cinematography was high end looking and not cheap poor quality. I was very impressed.
Ok now I am sure most of you are like get to the point, well my point is I could tell you all about this movie and spoil it for you. And tell you the plot but these would all just be my opinions and most of y'all may disagree... What I can tell you Is that I have seen a lot of bad movies high end horror on Netflix and prime. And this movie as I stated early on is a slow burn there are times I even was like come on let's go but the director is building the story and I understand that. The one thing I will say is that I feel that there was more to the sorry line and parts may have been cut out due to budget but I do not know for sure, would definitely like to see this movie uncut if there is such a thing. Bottom line is you don't have to take my word for it but if you made it this far you might as well check out this movie.
The talent alone is worth the watch. I hope to see more from this producer/ director because I see real potential for future movies and also from the cast because they really are a great cast.

I love horror and suspense movies. But lately I haven't seen one where it has kept my attention. This story kept me watching and trying to figure out where it was going with the story. I loved it! Aunt Tilda was creepy but that was the point.....there was something not quite right! The story worked! I read this was the first film directed by this director and she wrote it as well. She also was the main actress! Wow! Can't wait to see where she goes from here!
Being a fan of indie horror it's always fun watching someone fresh bring their vision to you.
Bloomfield does an amazing job slowly unwinding it's tale paying off with top rate suspense.
The acting feels genuine it's easy to get lost in this community of friendly faces without a friend.
Absolutely worthy of the awards director Brianna Young and actress Jennifer Moriarty are picking up at the festivals, the rest of the crew putting out an incredible effort as well, I really look forward to the next films this director and crew put out.

Not your usual movie, not a blockbuster, not a bad movie either. I'm quite impressed by the quality of the story and the acting. The aunt is really something! I'd recommend it!
