This movie was written and directed with a lot of passion. I feel like the filmmaker knows her stuff and overcame all odds to tell this story. It's also a lot of fun to see Danny Trejo play a priest rather than the heavy. I felt he brought a lot to the role and he is believable! I hope to see him in more roles like this. The locations are great and the photography is stunning. I personally love when filmmakers tell a story that they know about intimately and tell it from their heart. I hope that Wendy Wilkins gets more chances to tell her stories and hone her craft. It's still very tough for female filmmakers but there is a great need for their stories to be told.
Excellent, suspenseful movie, highly recommend anything by Wendy Wilkins! Great topic to create a movie about. I also really like the actors in this movie. I've always been a fan of Danny Trejo, Shannon Elizabeth did a great job too. It's based on a true story, so very raw. Sex trafficking needs to stop, so it's great that this story brought light to What's going on at the border. Having faith is also a good inspiring topic to bring in. I tend to avoid drama And violent movies because I prefer comedy and lighthearted stuff, but this one was very well done. Will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat.
As someone who has worked on the prevention of human trafficking for over a decade and has watched hundreds of films - there is no perfect movie on human trafficking, but Death on the Border captures so many important nuances of this crime against humanity - it has achieved what many have not - the ability to stoke a fire of anger at the blatant horror of exploitation, but also motivate to action which is what will bring this nightmare to end. Watch this movie and then do what moves your heart, support those getting victims safe, and those keeping more children from victimization. I highly recommend this movie for those interested in keeping children safe and to increase an understanding of this issue facing humanity today.
In our increasing digital age, it's refreshing to see a movie that deals with humanity and real issues facing our world and communities. I find myself gravitating towards films that are mostly live action with little to no digital effects and crime is one of my favorite genres. This movie delivers, with phenomenal acting, beautiful cinematography and massive heart. Looking forward to seeing more from director Wendy Wilkins. I also like the casting, seeing Danny Trejo play a noble priest, Eric Roberts as a cop and Shannon Elizabeth as a vigilante with a moral compass. The fight scenes are so realistic and gritty, combined with the story, make this movie incredibly hard hitting and powerful.
Based on true story & true experience that made the movie more real and heart wrenching but also gave a positive hope . It made everyone of us more aware of the seriousness of domestic violent and human trafficking - anyone can be a victim of it. The positive hope is that everyone can make a stand against it and be brave like the two ladies in the movie who stood up for what is right to protect the innocents and vulnerables.
This is a must watch movie. Every single person can a difference, keep a lookout, take a stand to make the the world a better place.
Thank you Wendy Wilkins, for creating a meaningful movie that focus on real world's problem!
