It was fun and there was just something about it that made me want to watch it till the end. I mean this was shot at home so don't bring up expectations that you would have from a movie typically shot on sets. They are just different wavelengths. But, the characters are stupid and i think that is on purpose, I get it. I really liked it especially Claire Holt and Darren Barnet... It had some parts that made me chuckle a little...and the fact it was shot on phone and zoom, well that's just great how it turned out to be...You should give it a try if you are looking for something light, not really serious...
With the tag line "You'll die laughing" and the movie labelled as a horror-comedy, you would think that I would have laughed, even once. I mean, maybe that's the point, if you laugh you die? So the movie goes out of its way not to make you laugh? Not sure. If you're thinking maybe it's just me, ask yourself just how funny the title "Untitled Horror Movie" is, and then ask yourself how funny the producers, or whoever, thought the movie title would be.
Essentially, a group of actors find out their tv show is being cancelled. They decide to make a horror movie instead, and read some sort of summoning they found on reddit. Of course, this actually summons a dark spirit which tries to kill them. Or at least freak them out. There is zero clarity on what the spirit really wants, whether the pendant is actually important, why it is attacking them, etc. This movie is just a bunch of scenes thrown together on purpose, by someone who thought that their laziness would be a good idea. Take, for example, how rather than each character getting their own scene in their horror movie, all the actors just perform the same scene. Did anyone think it would not be boring to watch the same scene performed by 5 different actors? The more and more I think about this movie, the more convinced I am that it was trying not to be funny on purpose. Surely.
Anyway, there are two Aussie actors in this movie, which is cool. It would have been nice if they were in a better movie, but whatever. It is what it is.

I see the ratings and I can figure why it would get a low score but really doesn't deserve it. They kept the movie interesting enough to keep my attention until the end. The actors weren't horrible so that's always a plus. There are a few comedic moments throughout -- a couple of which got me smiling. The Story is a possession story so nothing new there. But, they did put a little twist on it which you might find enjoyable. Movie was done all on Zoom, which I personally find interesting -- even before the pandemic. Although at that time the movies used Face-time as their medium. All in all not bad. If you like possession films and "social media" films then give it a go. It will at least keep you busy for a while.
I like how they reveal some of the Holywood "secrets", which might be publicly known, but most of us never really thought about them deeply. The casual talking style was nice, as was the sudden mention of botox(which for some reason cracked me up). It all felt more natural than most conversations in movies, and I really appreciate it. They obviously were overreacting at times, but it seemed like they could contain it within reasonable limits. The real quality of the movie isn't the best, the plot is shaky and almost missing, but the acting is more than good. It was spooky, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The little jabs at the whole politicizing of the movie industry were on point, mostly. I can see why a lot of people were upset after watching it. Well, I am not, and it wasn't bad at all.
This is a basic review for a basic film. If you have the patience to watch a talking head horror film...this one is a very good choice.
The actors were good and fairly believable. While I didn't quite die of laughter - there were some really amusing-to-funny bits, snarky lines, and reactions. The characters are supposed to be a little pretentious and over the top. I suspect that you aren't supposed to love any of them. Special effects? Please note this is a webcam movie...the special effects are the bare minimum and not the focus. A viewer should realize this going in. The special effects that were featured were good. It's not high art or remotely groundbreaking...but entertaining enough to recommend to horror fans. It gets compared to "Host" (2020). This film is much lighter and, honestly, more fun. Would be great as the second film of a double feature with Host. The highest praise I can give it is this: I may even watch it again.
