Right, well first of all, the movie's title is derogatory and offensive. And I am not even Latino or Mexican, but even I found the title to be cringeworthy. But since it was a new zombie movie that I had neither seen nor heard about, of course I had to watch it. Especially since I do have an unhealthy interest in all things zombie.
The storyline in the movie was not particularly good. Sure, it was semi-watchable, but it was a rather forgettable and generic storyline, one that drew in way too many stereotypical elements, painting the Latino and Mexicans in a very bad lighting.
The character gallery in the movie is insanely stereotypical to the point where it was laughable and cringeworthy to watch. I am sort of amazed that writers Pete Bollinger, Joe A. Castro Jr. And Eric Rafael Ibarra opted to paint a portrait of the characters as stereotypical and generic as they did in the movie. Of course I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And while that is usually something I enjoy, I didn't enjoy it here, because it was done so distastefully and stereotypical.
The effects in the movie were a mixed bag of nuts; some of the effects and make-up were actually fair, whereas others were just downright horrible to look at.
The movie is labeled as a horror comedy, well you have to look far and long for the comedy elements in this movie.
This was a laughably bad movie, and it is one that I would recommend you give a wide berth, especially if you enjoy zombie movies. I found this movie to be an offensive swing and a miss.
My rating of director Eric Rafael Ibarra's 2024 movie lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
