The lead actress delivered an incredibly raw performance, and the supporting cast brought depth and authenticity to every interaction. I was completely shocked by the final twist-it's the kind of ending that makes you want to rewatch the whole thing with new eyes. Knowing it was inspired by true events made the whole experience even more chilling. If you're into true crime, psychological thrillers, or small-town mysteries, this is one you won't want to miss. It stays with you.

- AnecdotesThe home that was used for Lyvia's house is the screenwriter's rural home that sits in front of a walnut grove just as in the film. In this 4000-square-foot house there are more than seventy wall outlets. The director found their gloss white finish garish and distracting, and insisted they all be painted matte shades to blend with the walls. But the light switches couldn't be disguised to his satisfaction, and that was when the screenwriter came up with the idea of masks to symbolize the truths being hidden by the characters. She herself painted all the switches and outlets, all the masks seen in the film, as well as the faux finishes on the walls and the mural of the walnut trees that are said in the film to have been painted by the artist Lyvia.

Tara Manning: Oh, my god. Why'd she do it?
Mary Ann James: Her husband left her for another woman. Guess she was one of those who couldn't handle that. But... if we're being honest, blood tells.
Tara Manning: What do you mean?
Mary Ann James: Well... you know. That whole clan was known for being a little wacky.
