Lust in America

Cash Markman foisted this porn-parody on the world at a time when Adult Cinema was making great features (see many classics from Adam & Eve and other major labels at the turn of this century). It's difficult to sit through.

He rips off Albert Brooks" "Lost in America", hardly an inspiration for porn. Jonathan Morgan hams it up as a pompous director named Thomas Paul - gimme a break, Cash. So we have TP instead of PT. He directs our stars Joel Lawrence and Elizabeth X in a scene and then kills lots of time with bad jokes and worse in-jokes. As a satire of the Adult industry, this is pathetic.

The pair retire and take off in a Winnebago, ending up in hick territory where Anthony Crane plays a gas station attendant whose accent would make Billy Bob Thornton in "Sling Blade" blush. Elizabeth loses Joel's nest egg playing poker with rubes Mike Horner and Michael J. Cox, so destitute Joel has to make some money artificially inseminating pigs on a farm (cue the fake cum sprayed from off screen). Happy ending has the couple back in Chatsworth begging to get there porn actor jobs back.

It's hard to decide what's worse: plagiarizing a real comedy talnet like Albert Brooks or just Cash trotting out his old worthless jokes. Actually, watching Ron Jeremy as himself having sex with a cake and Alexandra Nice takes the cake.
