Reviewers say 'The Gorge' garners mixed reviews for its unique concept and engaging performances by Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, alongside impressive visuals. However, it faces criticism for plot holes, inconsistent pacing, and clichés. The chemistry between the leads is praised, yet the ending and certain narrative choices are often panned. Despite these issues, many find the film entertaining and worth watching for its action sequences and romantic elements.

It was good to watch an uncomplicated linear story with nobody trying to be the next great film.
It just a solid narrative story with a bit of action, some fantastical elements to bring it all together, mystery and a little romance to spice it up.
We have a very small cast, limited sets and special effects which all goes with the narrative well.
This would have gone bad if it had a bigger budget, but this is just a solid, entertaining movie. Everyone from the writing directing. Camera, actors, special effects all just delivered quality.
I had given up on Hollywood been able to create these sort of movies. I assume the budget was small and all the parts just work.

It's soooo romantic! And at the same time totally freaky and bit scary. It's a really confusing mix. My heart was melting and stressed out alternately and at the same times. 😍😱
The underlying story is also told in a good and interesting way. They didn't rush it, but also didn't take more time than needed. The movie felt well finished and the combination of romance and action/horror was nicely done and enjoyable... despite my rapidly changing state of heart. 🌟
The main actors were really good as well and had a nice chemistry, that translated well onto on the screen. 😏
Can definitely recommend the movie.

I watched this on a whim but chose it for the cast. Was quickly enjoying the movie that constantly moved into new territory with the story.
And believe it or not, it had a pretty great love story something that is really hard to achieve within the genere of horror / sci-fi.
The characters were fun to get invested in and their relationship really made the movie compared to movies that have all action but we just couldn't care less if they died.
I do think it helped that I saw no trailers for the film. That really made it something I could enjoy without having any expectations. If your looking for a good sci fi, I recommend it.

If they had got the casting wrong this film would of been a let down for me, The romance that develops was believable and charming and enjoyable to watch. Aside from that it's just a action film which at times left me thinking this was based on a video game...lots of blowing stuff up etc but honestly nothing hear for the horror fans. It follows the action film formula as well as the romantic film formula but completely ignores the horror formula. Yes it has sci-fi in it thus aliens or whatever they called them but they don't give you the creeps. Overall it is entertaining but only because of the casting. It's a great film for a rainy day ,it just isn't a must watch.
If you read most of the reviews so far you can tell there are two very different tones in the two halfs of this film. Some may not like both styles of the film. There are slow and intimate moments in the first half building up the whole structure of the film and sci-fi horror very disturbing scenes in the second half. I believe the story, photography, acting, editing, visual effects and everything else felt very well done for a self contained film with so few characters and empty spaces. I don't think the payoff and the reveal where underwhelming, felt well explained and conclusive, definitely worth watching it.

- AnecdotesIn the Christmas montage scene, they play chess (like Taylor-Joy did in The Queen's Gambit) and then play drums (like Teller's breakout role in Whiplash). This was in the script before Taylor-Joy and Teller were cast, and when the two of them wanted the scene removed, they were overruled by producers. Taylor-Joy went on to say that they were happy to be overruled, since people enjoyed it.
- GaffesWhen Levi and Drasa exchange rifle shots across the gorge, they hit the canteen and champagne bottle, but don't hit the glass front of each tower directly behind each of them.
