Lost Boy

Lost Boy is a story of redemption. It has been honored with awards at eight international film festivals. The film shows how God saved a young man whose mother was married and divorced seven times before he was eighteen, and has used him in a mighty way to reach millions of people since then.

There are a lot of spiritual memoirs out there, but you've never seen one like this. Like many who came of age in the 1960s, Greg Laurie was on a search for the meaning of life. Born out of wedlock to an alcoholic mother who married seven times, Greg started drinking, partying, and taking drugs to escape the dysfunction of his family. Lost Boy is a fantastic story about how God used Pastor Greg Laurie to proclaim the gospel to millions despite personal hardship and tragedy. It's also one of the best documentaries about the 1960's "Jesus Movement" that emerged from the hippie subculture in Southern California.

Pat Summerall, longtime NFL announcer, narrates the story of Greg and his mother Charlene, a Marilyn Monroe look-alike who battled alcoholism and was married and divorced 7 times throughout her life.

Despite getting into drugs himself, Greg eventually turned to God and found his calling in preaching, teaching and pointing other young people to heaven.

The film also documents the tragic death of Greg's son, Christopher, in an automobile accident in 2008.

LOST BOY is a warm, funny account of how a boy of the 1960s drug, sex, rock n'roll culture changed his course. The word "saved" is glorious! saved from our own bondage, saved from our torments, Mr Laurie has become the Billy Graham of the west coast Evangelist movement called the Harvest Crusades. With snippets of vintage photos of the 1960s youth quake, recall yourself how Southern California appeared on the map with it's movie and music culture in full tilt offering escape and alternative worlds far from our folks. Still feel empty? I did. Like we had all the answers!! There, hidden behind the California desert were a group of stoned kids wandering around asking questions, seeking answers. Amidst the delusion of the time there came hope in the spirit of a Father much greater than any could imagine. It had everything to do with the real love of a real Father. His name is Jesus. I think "Lost Boy" is an intelligent journey not only in one man's life but also significant to a lost generation. Our LORD GOD sweeps down and lifts up all who are hurting or need the mystery of life answered. Shortly after my own personal salvation, this documentary came out. It gripped me because I think, we all can identify with these truths. I find using this phenomenal tape in discussion of salvation helps the beaten down guy who thinks there is no hope for him! Mr Laurie is the first generation of pastors who emerged from the rebellious kids of the 60s into the Jesus freaks of the future of which I am proud to be one of.
