Found this boring perhaps because this plot has been done before, with a slight storyline that varies wrapped in mysteries.
The cast and acting was average, you didn't care or like anyone & the cinematography was drab.
Was clichéd & plotholes.. I realize you shouldn't judge a series by one episode, but it should hook you enough to come back.. Was the reveal finding out a sibling was dead, really cliffhanger worthy? No! Even showing what's to come on the season, didn't have me sitting on the edge of my seat.
I mean yawn! A single mom that seems stuck in a small town, with a chip on her shoulder & parent or sibling issues.
Unless the storylines each episode become intriguing, don't feel this will make my weekly watch list.
If you like this type of television genre to watch check it out, otherwise find something else to invest in.. Examples: Glitch or Travelers.
On a final note: People mention 4400 & how this one doesn't compare, that show didn't deal with dead but those who disappeared returning.. So,not exactly accurate.

Too Close for Comfort
I loved the show...so far, that is. It had thrills and some unexpected things going on; however, my other half came into the room and said, "So Wynonna became the sheriff?" If you're going to do a show like this...you may want to get different actors that haven't played in some other show that is somewhat similar. To tell the truth though Melanie Scrofano wasn't recognizable to me. I guess some people remember faces better than others. But, the same thing somewhat happened when we watched SurrealEstate...I didn't realize that Tim Rozon was the same guy that played Doc Holliday, which is weird when they make them look so different.
If you keep trying long enough, something will eventually work out.
As a fan of the mystical sci-fi genre, I can say - the pilot turned out solid. The atmosphere is surprisingly cohesive, the direction confident, and the cast is average overall.
Melanie Scrofano - familiar from Wynonna Earp - fits organically into the dark tone of the story. There's something reminiscent of Preacher: that same strange, apocalyptic energy bordering on the absurd.
It's a shame the episodes are released weekly rather than all at once, which is frustrating in the streaming era. Still, the wait might actually build anticipation.
In the end, it's a solid genre piece that knows how to keep you intrigued. Recommended for those who appreciate a dark atmosphere, philosophical undertones, and quality execution.

Glitch stole from the Revival comic first published in 2012
It's frustrating to read viewers who mistakenly believe this TV show swiped its ideas from the fairly engaging Aussie TV show Glitch (debuted in 2015), when in fact, Revival was first published three years prior (Revival was nominated for several Harvey Awards, which are the Academy Awards for comics.) So far, Revival is quite faithful to the comic series, although not quite as dark. I can tell fussy viewers that the comic eventually answered all questions because the writer had worked out the end, and reason for the revival, from the very beginning. The series ran for 47 issues, which really could be adapted in a 10-episode series, so if this gets a second season, the writers will have to create from scratch. Melanie Scrofano is fantastic in everything, including here (and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Letterkenny, Ready or Not & Wynonna Earp). Most of the cast is just fine, but I will admit that I can not stand the younger emo sister.
Quite Enjoyable
This series starts very well in the first episode by establishing our main characters, situation and the expected direction the series will take.
There are many shows out there that revolved around people coming back to life. To name a few, Les revenants, Katla and Glitch. What makes Revival stands out is the direction of the show. Without spoiling much, taking the show to the Who did it angle was definitely a right choice.
There is one thing I didn't like about the show. It is too long, the story that was folding could have been wrapped up in 7 episodes or something. The more you watch the less interesting it gets which is a shame because this could have been avoided. If the show continued for two more episodes I would have rated it down for sure. I definitely see potential for season 2 but it needs to be done in a better way in terms of storytelling to avoid the stretch that happened in the last episodes of season 1 which let things start to be boring a bit.
Definitely worth a watch, wished it had more suspense and tension though.

- AnecdotesAlthough similar to the 2015 Australian series, Glitch (2015) starring Patrick Brammall, REVIVAL's source material (Image Comics) pre-dates that show by 3 years.
- GaffesThe General is wearing her "Blue Service Uniform" which is for formal occasions. She would be wearing her "Green Service Uniform" in the field. Neither does she carry herself with the comportment of an officer of 2 Star General rank.
