"Brønden" was the first full drama ever to be written exclusively to premier on Danish television. Until this time, Danmarks Radio had only done remakes of plays already known from the theater, from the movies or from foreign television. Ester Nagel, then a popular and well established writer of radio drama (married to poet Halfdan Rasmussen) was commissioned to write the play.
