The Devil's Hour

When the first episode of the second season was available, I thought "I vaguely remember watching the first season, but I cannot remember what it was about. Oh well, must have not been very memorable". I decided to watch the second episode without rewatching the first one. I changed my mind after the first episode. My mind was screaming, begging me "Please remind me what the story is about!!!". I binge-watched season 1, then rewatch S02E01 and then binge-watched the second season. It was worth it.

The show gives Fringe/Counterpart/Dark vibe. It is not that demanding to grasp, but don't watch if you have attention span of a goldfish or IQ below 100.

Majority of reviews were written after the first season; bear in mind the S02E01 explains A LOT, especially matters considered by many as plot holes.

I was expecting a halfway decent horror series, with maybe some psychological drama thrown in, but what I got instead was a near perfect blend of crime drama, horror, thriller, and science-fiction. To have the guts to try and blend all of these genres together and end up not giving too much time or too little of one or another was impressive. Seamlessly blended.

The story was completely and absorbing As a horror/crime series aficionado I've seen just about all of the best movies and series so it takes a lot to impress and surprise me, and let me just say I was impressed and surprised.

(10/10) for the child actor that played the Isaac. He was perfect.

You are going to have to watch the first five episodes - which I each rate with a decent 7/10 - to be able to watch the real gem: i.e. The sixth episode. That sixth episode is just so extremely awesome, that it alone deserves a 10/10.

It is the first time that I have ever watched such an "assymmetric" show. The difference between episodes 1-5 and 6 is just huge! And after seeing episode 6, you will also appreciate more all preceding episodes.

Averaging the different scores (5 episodes of 7 stars and 1 episode of 10 stars) will give this show a score of 7.5/10. Rounding this, gives an IMDb rating of 8 stars.

But please do understand that the real gem is the last episode. And you will have to watch all the episodes before it to really understand what is happening in episode 6.

This is not your put it on and do some cleaning around the house series. If you're not paying attention, well, you will be lost. I was meandering a bit and I actually did pay attention - I rewound a bit here and there.

I watched specifically because of Peter Capaldi - Who can resist a retired Doctor Who??

Actor Benjamin Chivers, who plays Issac, the young son, is nothing short of incredible. There's one scene where I found myself with my hand over my mouth and I had stopped breathing. This child was brilliant in his delivery.

This is NOT a series I would usually watch. It seems to be a concept that I have seen before, but can't name the program. I don't think this one was particularly well done, but it is very entertaining --- especially for the week before Halloween.

Enjoy! But only if you pay close attention.

WOW just finished this and can't stop thinking about it. It's a LONG time since a series has had this effect on me. A fantastic story and everything ties up in the end (as much as fiction can). Acting is exceptional, especially from Peter C and the child who plays Isaac. Be aware that the first few episodes won't make much sense, they keep moving time frames, certain characters come and go, situations change drastically and so on. Another reviewer has suggested to watch intently and not to scroll lazily at your phone. I concur, you really have to watch and take notice so as not to get confused and also to enjoy the wrap up in the last episode when it all falls sadly into place. I really loathed one character and can't say who without spoiling it but I'm sure you will know who I mean when you watch. I feel this series deserves a second viewing which I plan to do. Congratulations to all involved and especially to the writer/s for thinking outside the box.
