    The rise and fall of the galaticos project

    Any mention of the galaticos in the Spanish footballing context always brings up what happened to Real Madrid in the early 2000s. Much might had been written about it, but it is not always from the perspective of those involved in it. It is a definite case-study of how to run and not at a football club, even if the stories involved in those times can be wild at times.

    Anyone new to Spanish football will get an insight on how heady the turn of this century was for Real Madrid, just as much as it is quite a look-back for those following the Spanish game for some time.

    Great inside look

    Really good documentary about the Galacticos era of Real Madrid. Its really nice to see and hear the legends of the time talk about it with such passion. You can really see in their eyes how much it meant to them.

    Recimended for everyone who likes football, not just Madrid fans.

    • Anecdotes
      Figo came to Real Madrid because of a "secret" bet with Perez before he became president. The deal was that if Perez made president of the club Figo would sign for Barcelonas biggest rivals, Real Madrid or pay Perez a fee of 60million euros. If Perez would fail becoming president Figo would get 60million euros. Figos agent recommended Figo taking the deal because it was easy money and how did the president election go? Perez won by only three votes and Figo honored the deal. The rest is history!
