Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights Is an atmospheric metroidvania game, where a priestess has to explore what has happened to this Kingdom that is under the rain of death.
The big word when playing the game is atmosphere. The piano is playing constantly you hear the rain falling from the sky and there's just this constant feeling of Death Around you because everything is death. It can become tiring because it is one note, but it does that one note very well.
The story is very much in the Dark Souls way, where you find item description and sometimes there is a cutscene where your wandering What is happening.
It is a taste of storytelling that is not for everybody, but I enjoy it plus there's always Lore videos on YouTube.
And the monster design look good. They have this really dark fantasy to them where they look like a monstrosities that were human. Not long ago. It is really good and look grim. And of course the priestess design is precious and want to protect.
Combat system is spirits that you can put on the face buttons on the controller, and then you use them to attack, so you can make many combinations of weird spirits that will work and some boss fights some will work better than other. It's a good Combat system.
It doesn't take much for one to die in the game, but the game is very forgiving in you don't lose any XP when you die so. So even if a section is Ball busting hard, you still get the XP and get a small push forward.
It is a strong metroidvania. The map is fun to navigate. It was only in the last area. Where i was about to bite my head off, but at least it was sectioned off to the last level.
Biggest criticism is the resources that are required to upgrade the spirits. Because I wanted to use more combinations but I didn't have enough to upgrade them, and after completing the game there are not enough to upgrade them all. It makes you stick to what you have upgraded, and not upgrade weird stuff, you're not sure about.
Good metroidvania with art style and music that will stay in my mind. Would recommend.
