No pun intended - where do we come from? Where do we go? Cotton Eye Joe has nothing to do with what I was thinking of, but if you know the song, you probably just had the same strange thought I had ... my weird brain (thoughts) aside though, the movie looks more than stunning. And the performances are spot on. Yet I could not entirely explain the movie to you.
And I don't think anyone who watched this once could have all the "answers". It is a movie that either works on a different level with you (and your brain) or you will be annoyed by it. Hopefully it is the former. The director had a masterplan and I am looking forward to see where he will be going next - but also about finding out more of his thoughts and process in making this one.
Are we alone in this world? And what things are there that we can work with - that can work for us? And is time a straight line? Not even sure if the movie asks this last question directly ... but it might have it inside .. locked away. Although "locked" is not entirely true.
The good deeds .. well morally speaking I am not sure one can talk about a "good" deed ... but it still feels like the morally better choice ... yet for every action (and reaction) there are consequences too ... and maybe a balance of a different kind is always achieved ... or maybe I am totally off and the ending is revealing way more than I was able to comprehend ... again, tough to describe and as tough to watch for most I'd assume ... but super worth it for those who can tune in!
