Bigfoot: America's Abominable Snowman

This is what I take to be the earliest documentary about Bigfoot. I would say it is most important because of the interview give by Roger Patterson who took the famous footage at Bluff Creek. Patterson was a hard man to fathom as you will see in this interview where he is so calm and smooth-talking about his experience. It has some details of the 19th century Bigfoot records including the captured Jacko I hadn't seen before. There is a good section on the past land bridges between Siberia and Alaska that indicate a link between the Asian Yeti and the American Bigfoot. I just think they wasted too much time going on about the origin of man in Africa and how man got separated from other creatures. Whereas the time of the year when Bigfoot sightings have occurred wasn't enlarged upon as it should have been. A man recounts seeing Bigfoot when he was picking huckleberries gives us a hint but apart from that no details were put forward and yet other witnesses kept saying about Bigfoot being seen at certain times of the year. The contributors were split 50-50 about the belief in Bigfoot presumably to give a balanced program. So I found this a little bit stuffy after being spoilt by documentaries showing picturesque scenery with enthusiastic redneck witnesses who I always feel are genuine. But as I believe this was once thought to have been a lost documentary I felt privileged to see this one at last.
