Just the best historian of our time. When you get to the creepy bit on soothsaying magic around a churchyard take into account that this very likely has predominantly non pagan elements. So approach with extreme caution, as per magic in general. Hail the gods of the north!

Fantastically well researched -as is usual for Mr Rowsell- this documentary examines the beliefs relating to naturally occurring holes in stones and how they related to superstition and practices of worship for ancient European Pagan people, though in some form, many of these practices survived into the modern day.

Particularly interesting to me was the revelation that certain apertures, including a crooked arm or even the upright ears of a horse, can provide a window into the world of the unseen.
