Wonderful story, suspenseful, good comic relief. Wholesome. No bad language or censor-worthy scenes.
I won't give the plot away except to say it is a mystery; TOTALLY any-age appropriate. The plot/writing/acting carries the movie and neither the lack of "language" or lack of "sexual content" are missed.
I've seen it twice, once at the Premier. Loved it. Took my 14 year old niece who was on the edge of her seat during the suspenseful scenes, and she had good belly laughs during the comic scenes.
Refreshing to see actors that look like the cross-section of America, i.e. tall, short, slim, chubby, bald, blemished, pubescent boys with cracking voice; a true representation of real life.
I HIGHLY recommend More Than Diamonds. Watch it thru the end of the credits. The end isn't the end.
I don't know what constitutes a '10' rating, but this comes as close as anything I've seen in a LONG time.
More Than Diamonds is definitely worth having in your DVD library. Can't wait til it comes out in DVD!

This is a movie that adults and older kids alike will enjoy. I'd recommend it for 8 and up (just because I don't think it would hold the interest of younger ones). Hollywood seems to think that a movie has to contain sexually explicit dialogue, partial nudity, potty humor, and foul language to be a success. Mainstreet America knows that this isn't the case, and this movie is a wonderful example of the kind of family-friendly fare--while maintaining quality production values--that is out there. The storyline is excellent, the child actors are superb, and the overall quality is far above what you'd expect from a local independent film. It's a family favorite.
What a fantastic story!!! You won't find anything so wholesome coming out of Hollywood, not even from Disney...I dare you to try! More Than Diamonds shows us an average family, in tons of debt, and things keep getting darker until Adventure invites the children for a game. They must risk everything they have left to be Heroes, overcome the Villain, rescue the Princess...well just plain survive, all the while trying to recover a priceless treasure (and I'm not talking about Diamonds). Leaving the Postmodern trash of Existentialism, Sentimentalism, and Nihilism for the boys in Hollywood, Grant Skellenger offers hope by reminding us who we are and dares us to be more, showing us how! If you want a movie you can watch with your Mother, Wife and Children at the same time, the list is short and More Than Diamonds is on the top!
so it's the morning after watching More Than Diamonds and my boys (who are 6 and 7) came in the room and the oldest boy, Jo-Jo said, "My favorite thing about that movie was that I learned you don't have to be a hero like superman or spiderman or even batman and green lantern (of whom i know not) to be a hero to your friends and sister or brother or mom" Then he added, "you don't even need to have big muscles" "you just have to be brave and believe that you can do it and know that you have Help even when your mommy and daddy aren't there beside you, even if it's harder than you think." Huddy, the younger one, said, "Yeah, I like Alexander and well...the old lady with the gun" Jo said "yeah, me too" "and you can even drive a car when you're young." Jo asked later today "Is there a number two?" Thanks for making this movie and teaching my spiderman and batman loving men something important.

Great movie, you WILL laugh, cry, fear, hope, and thoroughly enjoy this movie. And without all the unnecessary Hollywood additives. Can't wait for the sequel. I enjoyed watching actors and actresses that I haven't seen before in 18 other movies, all playing the same parts . . . again. It is a locally produced movie, but that doesn't detract from the quality of the photography, sound and music. This movie demonstrates that it doesn't take millions of dollars and huge computer generated graphics to make a good movie, and I like movies that have all the graphics. This is a throw back to when movies depended on good acting, a good story line, and clever photography. It is well done, and very tasteful. Everyone will enjoy this movie no matter what age. Great job.
