Long December

Loved this! A great and realistic look at what it's like to have a dream and pursue it and be flexible about what you're really going after. Great story, characters and music, and it was a joy to watch. Highly recommend checking it out!

The pace is slower, which I really appreciated, as it added to the feeling of following the main character through what he was going through and processing. Whether you're interested in what it might be like to try to make it in the music industry, you relate to having a dream you're pursuing, or want a story that will inspire you to remember what really matters, this movie is for you.

Wonderful indie movie! Captures the story of the struggling artist and causes one to reflect on the meaning of success and the holiday season. Portrays realistically that the holidays can be a struggle for many. Definite worthwhile viewing. Strong acting by the lead and wonderful original music. Cinematography was strong, too. I very much enjoyed and appreciated. It's great to see a movie that's success is based on a story well told and developed characters without the need for senseless violence, over the top sex, or excessive cursing. Bravo! I'd like to see more films like this. I am so grateful that the director stuck to his dream and kept making movies! Please keep them coming!

This film was artistically shot, beautiful to watch through and through. Acting was great- I was actually surprised considering most (ok, all, save John Mark McMillan) of the cast were unknown to me. A simple yet resonant story. Not a lot of bells and whistles in this movie, not a lot of bells and whistles needed. I can't believe music was driving 70% of the plot of this movie and yet it never felt once like a musical. Music was awesome throughout. Felt like lots of heart went into this, and it shows. Could maybe have done with one less reflective driving scene. Aside from that, I really enjoyed it. Might need to rewatch next Christmas.

Very impressive indie, with major style points, great music and solid acting performances all around. I would watch it again (very rare for me) and recommend for anyone looking for a thought-provoking and heartfelt musical drama. It's set around Christmastime, so expect this to be one that gets revisited on movie nights in December. It's in the vein of Once, La La Land, Inside Llewyn Davis, or Begin Again.

The most impressive thing here is how without a big budget or action sequences, or even name actors, it's all comes across very compelling and authentic, moves at a good enough pace, and brings us on a character arc that is relatable and challenging to our own sense of living "the dream" whatever that may be...

I feel like I just watched a cross between Garden State, Once and Charlie Brown Christmas. Utterly charming. Music was incredible (expected), acting was incredible (unexpected), but maybe the best thing I can say is that after it was over then 45 minutes later my teenagers and I were still talking about the message of the movie, finding purpose, what category we put "dreams" in, passion vs. Career, etc.

Later, getting ready for bed, I heard my oldest on the piano picking out one of the songs from the movie, Dream.

The chemistry between the lead and his wife is remarkable. Hard to believe he hasn't acted before.

Indie films need more attention. This wasn't just the best "Christmas" movie I've seen in awhile, it's also the best movie I've seen in awhile.
