Are we going backwards as a society?
I thought patience would be enough to keep me watching, but this is too much. It's very repititive, regressive & degrading for women. It can't be a love story. I would've kept watching if the aim was to show how Seyran escapes these houses of abuse when all is done & said, but no. But it's romance? He gaslights her, abuses her & what not, but she just stays silent, falls in love & forgives? She says she won't let him trample up on her, but it's already 39th episode. It's like she has to stay with him because the screenwriters say so?? It's too traumatic, even for someone used to true crime!!!!
What makes this show different than rest Turkish dramas?!!
So answering the main heading, story's worst plot.
It is 2023, and you must be thinking that things with Turkish dramas have changed by now. But wait, this drama has gotten worst. Watched one back in 2018, after 30 episodes found it very dragged and so left, and now seeing it getting the hype thought that maybe it's 2hours episodes are worth the watch.
But wait, now I can say that those able to watch it after 10 episodes either are critics or they need serious mental help.
Let me summarize the main problems, Firstly the acting by main leads and almost everyone is quite natural and well-performed.
But that's the only good thing about drama. Rest it involves repetitive scenes that make no sense, like Ferit and Seyran fighting over same points after some hours, they are almost always fighting. Story soon introduces you to the concept of this story, where intention is not to solve problems or deliver any good meaning to the audience, but just to keep up the spice and continue the exaggerated drama(that only makes the viewer bored and fed up)
Mert and Afra have performed very well as main leads, so it feels bad to give this show 1 star, but other than acting, every thing else religiously deserves 1 star.
Finally I can say for a show, "Watch at your own risk".

Inconsistent Characters
I can overlook most things about this series, but the one thing that frustrates me the most is the inconsistent writing for the characters. Every character goes back and forth between bad and good to the point that you just about don't care about any of them. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever resolved so that is just poor plot writing. This show could be the greatest. It has everything it needs: beautiful cinematography, beautiful actors with great skill, obviously a huge budget, etc. However, the writing is the weakest link. It is just not satisfying and I find myself losing interest every episode.
No progress here, repetitive.
Started good with the arranged marriage, kind of exciting, but after that it spiralled down to uninspiring episodes wuth nothing much of a story to follow but a series of anger, shouting, and scary elders with huge egos and narcissistic tendencies.
Male lead acts like a kid with his annoying attitude towards the female lead character with his cutesy facial and body expressions.
Everyone is petrified with the old man and usually occur during each meal congregation. The father of Seyran is also abusive and angry all the time the camera focused on him.
I know it is a romantic series but I don't see the romance angle with Ferit having another girlfriend on the side despite being married.
The story is kind of repetitive and monotonous.

Turkish Series
Turkish series:
6/23/2024
As a Turkmen-American who is familiar with Turkish culture due to racial and cultural affinities, watching Turkish series during these last few years made me feel threatened and write this note: 1- The foundations of the family: According to the experience of living in Iran (my native country), Europe (where I studied) and America (where I currently live), it is not Europe and America that are facing a moral crisis, but it is countries like Iran and Turkey that, despite being Muslim and Emphasis on religious and moral teachings have not benefited from these issues, but from the top to the bottom the society suffers from promiscuity, family moral betrayals, abundance of illegitimate births and illicit relationships. I was surprised to see this amount of moral corruption in Turkish series. You rarely see a series that does not depict the betrayals of husband and wife, telling lies and hiding the facts that are necessary for a common life from each other, which has its place.
There was a time when I used to say to myself while watching the Latin American series broadcast on satellite channels: Is it possible? Is it possible for this amount of insolence and betrayal? But the Turkish series have been lifted by these series.
2- Cultural education of the young Turkish generation: It seems that the young Turkish generation longs to become European or American, the existence of discotheques and cabarets that are full of girls and boys who are always having fun during the week, but this amount of fun in America itself is also This intensity is less visible.
Maybe in the longing to become European, it has caused Turkish youth to consider going to discotheque as a sign of being European.
Is this generation going to lead Turkey?
Lying, rudeness, secrecy and betrayal are the things that show the characteristics of the young generation in Turkish series.
3- Lawlessness: Acquaintance with civility and civilization has little history in Turkey, because this country is a legacy of an old empire, but what is the point that respect for the law has no place in the Turkish society and lawlessness is shown as a characteristic of the Turks.
This principle that everyone is equal before the law is one of the basic educational principles in all schools, which apparently has been forgotten in Turkey. In any of the Turkish series, it is not possible to see a rich person who submits to the police and the law and is not constantly inducing his social status and wealth to the law enforcers and intimidating them in order to escape punishment.
4- Community security: To the extent that the gangster atmosphere in Turkish cities is shown by Turkish serials, the Italian mafia, with its age and world fame, has not been able to show the atmosphere of Sicily and Italy in this way. The presence of people in black suits and armed who serve rich people or tax collectors and smugglers, who easily give and shoot in Golan city without the police bothering them, is apparently a normal issue in Turkey. This volume of criminal gangs does not give Türkiye a good image.
In the end, despite the income generation of Turkish series, which is the second largest film industry in the world after Hollywood, and it creates the thought that they will continue this trend, but do not neglect the fact that the huge number of viewers of Turkish series all over the world after watching Serials ask themselves: Is Türkiye really a safe country?
Are Turks normal and honest people?
Do you recommend marrying Turks to your family?
Do you want to spend your retirement by buying a property in Türkiye?
