Dreams Live in Trees

A surprising little sleeper set in Italy, 1978, when mental asylums were banned and those patients allowed to assimilate in general public health facilities. In Anja's case (strong performance by Kiera Morgan) she was reluctantly taken into care by her communist brother and his narrow-minded wife in a provincial town. There she meets Libero who has issues of his own, and played by an unrecognisable Pietro Ragusa in a fine performance, who also co-wrote the screenplay with the director. Anja and Libero make a strong connection, but the backward gossiping town are uneasy about the blossoming relationship due to the couples past actions. An uneven strong drama that still packs a punch, revealing how ignorance can destroy rebuilding lives because of not believing in mental rehabilitation...
