Lucio Dalla: Caruso

This music video by Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla's classic song "Caruso" pays a special tribute to famous tenor Enrico Caruso (1873-1921), through his poetic lyrics and some old clips of the man. But it's a quite unusual clip towards its early minutes when Dalla arrives at a small hotel where the desk guy refuses to hear the man because he's more concerned in hearing Duran Duran's "Will Boys" playing on his radio; then comes the performance of Dalla singing, at times playing the piano.

It is one of those songs that goes through your heart due to Lucio's incredible performance and fans of Italian songs know about its importance, not just as for the artist's career but also as a tribute to the great Caruso, who had his story told in a biopic starring Mario Lanza. It's very smooth, quiet and worthy of view and definitely listening. It became one of my favorite tunes after hearing an instrumental version with the song chorus played a mobster kind of theme in the TV series "A Próxima Vítima" (1995). Marvellous! 8/10.
