Reviewers say 'Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!' is appreciated for its nostalgic animation style and classic elements, offering humor and self-awareness. Velma's romantic subplot is praised for representation and development. The engaging storyline, involving a former foe, entertains fans. However, some critics find the animation and character portrayals less appealing. Overall, it is seen as a fun addition to the franchise, though opinions on its execution and innovation vary.

First off, the character of Coco Diablo is insufferable. She's an annoying, unfunny, uninteresting character. Velma's infatuation with her is annoying and the way she acts in the presence of Coco is oddly out of character considering Velma's usually outgoing and nerdy personality. The ending of the movie devolves into literal nonsense. Most of the other side characters are over the top and verge on annoying, and the movie makes jokes at its own expense several times. And it seems ever since Deadpool, movies and shows think it's funny to have a character break the fourth wall and speak to the audience. They don't go quite that far but Scooby Doo makes a remark to one of the villains about the show being named after him. It's out of nowhere and makes little sense. But for the good side of things, the movie revisits multiple classic golden and silver era Scooby villains, both in and out of their disguises. It's cool to see the old villains getting screen time in new projects, even though they were reduced to bit parts. The new villains (with the exception of Coco) are decent characters. I liked the idea of a group of ghosts that were the complete opposite of Mystery Inc. The idea of the Scooby Gang going up against evil versions of their selves is fantastic, but not quite explored as much as it could've been. The redesign to the Mystery Machine is an odd choice but it keeps things fresh. It's almost an homage to the Munsters' Koach. And I love the subtle Easter eggs hidden throughout the movie. Like in Trevor's shop, you see Freddy Krueger's striped sweater. It's a middle of the road movie. Some good laughable moments, some terrible unfunny Gen-Z humor. As a Scooby Doo movie, it serves its purpose, although being mildly disappointing.
The plot was good. The voice actors was like a good old times. This movie is surprisingly funny and actually good. I'm classic Scooby fan and this is my type movie for my favourite character from old time when we watch it on cinema (Mystery Inc.). The story is kind-a predictable but the animatuon is wonderfully. It's perfect choice for everyone who love Scooby and enjoy cartoons. This is nostalgic for me. Awesome incorporation of representation on part of Velma's characterization. Shaggy was my favourite like Scooby. Daphne was just good nothing special but it's not bad. Just watch it is 1 hour and 10 minutes long.
Trick-or-Treat Scooby-Doo may not be outstanding, but it's a fun addition to the Scooby-Doo universe
My daughter and I recently enjoyed Trick-or-Treat Scooby-Doo (2022) on Max. The plot revolves around Mystery Inc. Taking a vacation and slowing down their case solving activities since their arch-nemesis has been arrested, and business is quiet. However, their trip is disrupted by some mysterious ghouls, leading them to consider seeking help from their former foe to uncover the truth.
Directed by Audie Harrison (Uncle Grandpa), the film features the voices of Frank Welker (Mortal Kombat), Grey Griffin (Bumblebee), Matthew Lillard (Scream) and Anthony Carrigan (Gotham).
The storyline of this movie proves to be enjoyable and entertaining as it unfolds. The ghostly elements are well-executed, and the animation style maintains a nostalgic charm. While the inclusion of a Velma love story may not have been necessary, it doesn't significantly detract from the overall experience. The conclusion may be somewhat predictable, but it remains satisfying.
In summary, Trick-or-Treat Scooby-Doo may not be outstanding, but it's a fun addition to the Scooby-Doo universe. I would rate this a 6/10 and recommend seeing it once.

My kids and I watch Scooby Doo most weekends. Yesterday we rewatched the first Zombie Island which is my favorite! This week we also watched Happy Halloween Scooby Doo, the Sword and the Scoob to name a few.
This movie was just not entertaining. We had to force ourselves to keep watching. I don't normally have to do that for my 5 year old. The storyline reminds me of the Be Cool, Scooby Doo Tv show. They're using the old animation style and had a lot of call backs to old villains which may be its only positives. The movie was just trying to be too meta, made fun of it's own story model way farther than it needed to, and felt like it was just pushing an agenda that didn't feel natural. In fact, I felt like they betrayed Velma's character to not be okay with being herself.
Not sure who they were targeting with this one. Boring tale for kids and adults. I would love to see them go back to the writing from the early 2000s. Zombie Island and the Witch's Ghost were so good. But I also really enjoyed Happy Halloween from 2020 so it's not like good writing can't be found.

This really has the plot and storyline of a Scooby-Doo movie verses just an extra long tv episode worthy mystery.
The Halloween tie in is really fun but isn't the heart of the movie, but more just the background amount the story the gang is involved in.
I feel like the comedy mixes classic cartoon jokes with some new animated comedy. A more cartoonish version of jokes we got in Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc.
I think people need to realize that franchises aren't going to be the same thing over and over otherwise they get dull and boring, and the changes this film made are really fun!
And anyone who has issue with Velma in this, we had episodes/films where Shaggy, Velma, and Daphne do the same thing with a character they need in the episode/film. Doesn't distract from any of the movie, just adds to it.
