Dhruvo Banerjee's 'Guptadhan' series continues to garner success in both viewer's reception as well as in financial terms. In spite of having a familiar, formulaic structure, these films tend to generate a considerable amount of footfall in the theatre. Keep in mind, however, that great box office numbers do not necessarily translate into superior products, and unfortunately this is true as well in this particular case.
As a treasure hunt, it gets the job done. The surplus amount of historical knowledge would fascinate history buffs and enthusiasts alike. But what about the rest of the audience? Does it offer anything else? I'm afraid not.
The comedy which was deemed to be a prime focus fails mainly due to poor write-up. While its visuals are pretty nice given how limited the resources typically are for Bengali content, the less I say about its action, the better. The only saving grace for me was the ensemble; the indispensable trio of Abir, Arjun and Isha made this whole execution blossom. And a special mention is due to Mr. Rajatava Dutta. What a performer!

This is possibly the worst Bengali detective movies ever made. Rajatabha and Arjun take overacting to the next level.... Isha Saha is wasted in the role. It is high time the actors pay close heed to the understated brilliance and subtlety of Feluda and Byomkesh from the yesteryears. The script is fraught with glaring errors, acting is over the top and hard to imagine that the movie was intended to serve as a crime thriller. I am thoroughly underwhelmed and disappointed that an actor like Abir Chatterjee chose to serve as the lead for this movie. He needs to focus on better quality scripts. Overall a very disappointing experience.
The fact that bengali movies have potential is marked by the substance this plot have. Many unknown facts have been included in the key story which have no mention in any school syllabus. This is a commendable job, but bengali movie industry is dying a slow death. In a day and age when YouTube videography has seen multiple revolutions and OTTs have technically taken over the home entertainment section with mind boggling choreography, cinematics and visual effects how did the makers thought this kind of through and through half baked movie will fare in the box office? I couldn't sit through the car chase action sequences at the one hour mark given the car chase sequence at the beginning was already giving me a itch which I can't scratch. Bengali film industry and bollywood are on track of self destruct mode and only Bengali movie industry can come out of this alive with proper guidance. If you're trapped in a room with no entertainment other than this or self loathing then I suggest you go for this one!
It has been a while I watched a 'mainstream' Bengali movie. My mom read some review on Times or Telegraph about how it's great' giving it a 4/5 rating so I thought let's watch it for the Pujas. So I riled up the whole family and we went for it.
The opening car chase and accident and the vfx on that looked very decent. Then came a huge info dump and I just stopped caring about 2 mins in. It was dreadful. Do people think that if they just give huge expositions, people are gonna care? Then came the dialogues. It was quirky and funny and then it just dragged. We get it, the supporting guy likes food.
The villain is the most un-intimiinidating villain coming in to follow the main cast like back in the movies of cat and mouse chase. It feels there is no stakes even after the villain reveals himself and threatens everyone with a gun.
The so called detective work is stupid and the puzzles more stupid.
We just couldn't. I looked at my family members and we all nodded. We knew we are gonna walk out now.
Never watching another Bengali movie without it running for at least a week so I can read some Audience reviews and not corporate reviews that were bought.

The freshness Sonada franchise gave in the first movie, Guptodhoner Sondhane, gave in 2018, in the third installment, it's becoming predictable, and, some extent boring. Probably all the viewers know the flow of the film, the climax, and, the same comic vibes. Frankly, now Abir's (Arjun Chakraborty), Sonada's (Abir Chatterjee) swag, and, Jhinuk's (Isha Saha) fresh romanticism is not giving the old vibes.
Rajatava Dutta, Saurabh Das, have tried their best, though the script seems to be inappropriate. Criminals never does such stupid things, that even a 10 years old kid even knows. Some comedy came in slapstick form.
Songs are nice, beauty of Bengal is shown in a good way, but overall it's an average film.
