Nederdood

This movie begins with a strange virus breaking out in the small Dutch town of Rozenburg which turns people into zombies. Soon only a few survivors are left and have taken refuge in a house within the town. Running low on food three of these survivors decide to leave their temporary shelter and look for supplies and possibly other survivors. Unfortunately, their excursion becomes more dangerous than they initially thought and not all of them manage to survive. Now rather than reveal any more of this movie I will just say that this was an ultra-cheap production which comes through as such with each and every scene. The makeup for the zombies, the combat scenes and the special effects were all in need of considerable improvement. Of course, this was probably to be expected for a low-budget endeavor such as this. The acting, on the other hand, wasn't too bad--especially considering the rather weak script. The camera work was also adequate although some scenes could have used a bit more lighting. In short, although this movie had potential and I appreciate the fact that the director (Vincent Bouritius) made an honest attempt, the final result wasn't very good and I have rated it accordingly. Below average.
