If you are a fan of Turkish dramas or character-driven crime thrillers and are willing to overlook some narrative and pacing flaws, Asaf would be worth a watch. The series does not shy away from showing the darker sides of life and crime, which can be engaging for fans of raw, grounded dramas.
Tayanç Ayaydin's acting in Asaf is a testament to his skill as a performer. His ability to embody a character who is both complex and relatable adds depth to the series, making him a standout in an otherwise uneven production. Tayanç's portrayal is a highlight worth watching. If Netflix decides to greenlight a second season of Asaf, it would be exciting to see Tayanç Ayaydin's character given greater focus and screentime. Given his standout performance, it's exciting to imagine Tayanç Ayaydin taking on more Netflix projects in the future.

ASAF is a very good 6 episode series with a gripping plot and excellent acting. The atmosphere is built very well. The omnipotent Payen Kuyern organization has arms that can reach everyone and everywhere. We feel Asaf's suffocation at first and his gradual change to comply with the power game.
All the actors are good but Cihangir Ceyhan stands out as ASAF. Burçin Terzioglu as Asaf's wife, Saadet Isil Aksoy as the journalist, Ahmet Rifat Sungar and Fatih Al as detectives all give excellent performances. Even the two children play their parts well.
I really don't understand why people wrote that Tayanc Ayaydin played Asaf. Although a very good actor himself, Tayanc Ayaydin has a small part as Asaf's brother in this series.
Many members of the cast are missing in the IMDb cast section of this series.

The show certainly can pump out the drama. The music especially: it just hits in a way, that you expect there is something wild going on. Some operator work also tries to add to the atmosphere, but... In the end it feels like those old TV novellas I saw as a kid, I think they were advertised as Brazilian, but not sure if all of them were.
The plot is extremely simplistic. Think low budget "Mafia: The City Of Lost Heaven". And with very little logic. I mean, if you look at the story as a whole - yes, there is some level of logic to it. The kind that you see in Hallmark Christmas (or generally "romantic") movies. They do even suggest some "paranormal" at some point. Or at least there is a bit that may be interpreted as such.
The main problem is that this should have been a movie. I see potential, especially, since the 1st episode started with comments about bad phone battery, and they tried to utilize those comments only in the last episode, where it did kind of work. Not ideal, but still.
If they went with approach similar to Statham's "Crank" from 2006 but more emotional, or recent "Mercy Road" but with more people - it could have been great. They do have fast dynamics after all, it's just that all the unnecessary and stupid fluff (which is "talked about", not so much "shown") just ruins it.
But we have what we have, and as is... It's not good. Soundtrack is still the best thing about it, and perhaps they should release is as a digital album.

A series that will leave you breathless. The acting is excellent, and the script is exceptionally well-constructed. The episodes are engaging, with perfectly crafted endings that seamlessly pull you into the next one. It's a perfectly balanced mini-series, not overly extended, with each episode filled with meaningful content. Unnecessary events don't waste your time. Instead, it leaves questions in your mind, constantly encouraging you to think and solve the unfolding events. I was very surprised when I read the negative comments. I feel the exact opposite about this series. Thank you, Payen Kuern, for your contributions.
Bad acting is the most obvious flaw about the show. Also, the story is unrealisticly manipulated for dramatic purposes, which irritates viewer since many events in the story are very least likely to happen. Additionally, there is nothing special to watch visually. Scenes are too slow, to over exposed, there is no fluidity. Unfortunately the show is made by acquiring the worst aspects of an average Turkish national tv drama series. Thw team had to spend more time to make the show feel more a real life. It is way too far away from being absorbing. It Just feels like a simple, quickly written, cheap, not visually attractive Turkish drama.
