An emotional, claustrophobic horror that shows promise.
I decided to give this a watch because of the synopsis....a couple split up and turn into 'monsters/become infected by something repulsive' as a metaphor for the relationship and the toxic way in which they can end. Was it about that? Well, kind of.
This is a very low budget, claustrophobic horror that would seem to convey all the above whilst doing flashback cutaway scenes to show the story of the start of the relationship though to its zenith.
The direction in that respect is rather good, the central idea is really good, the execution however, can be a little hit and miss.
At its best, it's a grotesque emotional horror rather than a physical one. At its worst, it's a faux intellectual, faux arthouse, film school project.
The actors are mostly a miss. The characters are not very sympathetic and you will feel like you a chlorox bath after watching. Anything that makes feel all those things can't be half bad.

So bad I visibly cringed in the end. Insufferable is an understatement.
It's amazing; a movie about a toxic relationship (from both parties) and of course the film skews heavily in favor of the female when she was just as culpable as he was. She was belligerent, passive aggressive, combative, coarse and insufferable throughout the entirety of the movie, and the audience is suppose to feel sympathy for her, why, exactly? The poor man just wanted a girlfriend that didn't smoke, go out and get drunk every night, have sex with everything that moved and just be a normal person, took some responsibility for her actions and if she didn't want to willingly change for him, why did she even bother leading him on? I was actually completely on his side until the last third of the film, and if you watch this nonsense, you'll see why. But, it's crazy how some people can claim to be a "victim" when they do everything in their power to destroy everything that's good in their life and still have the audacity to blame the other person for their own failures. This is exactly why most people are perpetual Ex'es and will probably only ever be one in the end.
The older I get the more I realize that the people you attract are exactly the people you deserve. She was a promiscuous woman and he was man that wanted a wife, and you know what they say about trying to make a wife out of a street walker? Well, that's this movie in spades. He got exactly what he deserved, and so did she. In the end, this is a movie about two people that were incompatible from the jump, but allowed their hormones to override their common sense and paid the ultimate price for it. She knew she wasn't going to change for him, and he knew that her past completely ruined her future, so why did he even waste his time? I yelled at the screen in hopes that he heard me when I said, "You deserve better than her!" But of course he didn't listen which is why he ended up the way he did.
The acting was serviceable, for the most part, and some of the SFX was visually appealing, but I'm only giving this movie a 3 because the lead male actor is a stone cold fox. I literally only finished the movie because he was still in it until the end. The movie itself was an insufferable exercise in what happens when you have two guilty parties, and society consistently chooses one side over the other even though both are equally repulsive and entirely to blame in their actions.
A true waste of time, do not make the same mistake I did in watching this. You will regret it, and no, we cannot still be friends. In fact, lose my number completely.

Finally, it's over
That's how I felt when "Kill Your Lover" was done. I wanted this film to be over with within minutes of it starting, but I hung in there because the majority of the reviews on here encouraged me to. Well, respectfully to those reviewers, I do not agree with your assessment.
This is a godawful artsy telling of two unsympathetic people who are in a bad relationship, accentuated with body horror and absolutely insufferable, overly dramatic, endless dialogue about what went wrong. It also includes a couple of really incompetent paramedics.
This was a stupid movie. But I give it points for reasonably good production values, okay special effects considering the budget and acceptable acting. But the characters are so frustratingly unpleasant and annoying that I simple did. Not. Care. About them. Why this guy turns into an acid-bleeding freak is only marginally explained in the interminably long ending, and it's ridiculous. And if you like simulated sex, there's an insanely long montage of the couple having it, followed by conversation, followed by more sex, followed by more conversation...that goes on I don't know-9? 10 times? I was so angry I yelled, "Get on with it!" to the TV. It was just that silly-and I'm thinking that's not the reaction the director was going for.
All in all, I hate myself for watching this entire thing, but I blame the other reviewers. Therefore I'm writing this to advise you that it's low rating is due to a heck of a lot of people who DIDN'T write one. You have been warned.

Addicted ... to you
No pun intended - the movie and its storyline ... not an easy watch! Add to that some effects that sensitive souls may have issues with too ... and then you also have characters who make decisions that you probably will not entirely agree with.
At least there seems to be some (common) sense when it comes to a reaction to a... well disease ... then again, the touch might be a bit too much overall (you'll understand). Keeping us viewers on our toes with the back and forth (time(line) wise) is a neat idea. You also have a lot of nudity in this ... which is supposed to make us understand the connection between our two leads ... or to fill up time! Maybe both, who knows ...

bad
My dear mother, ... how is this a film without any sense or connection with anything normal.
First, ... I usually aim for a higher star rating.
Second, ... I download the movie in a hurry, so I don't check the country of origin of the movie.
If by any chance it says that the film was shot in the UK or England, I wouldn't even watch it because of my previous experiences.
The similarity of the names of the actors with the US actors is great, so I always hope that the film is from the USA and fear that it is not from the UK.
Unfortunately, as soon as the movie starts, I can see from the accent and shots that I will be watching nothing for the next hour and a half.
The script of the film is bad, the acting typical for English films is originally boring and forced, not to mention the cheapest production that gives everything a special pathos.
If this is horror and deserves a 5.4 current rating, then the film has lost its purpose as art and entertainment.
Perhaps the worst thing about English films is that they don't invest a lot of money in the film, and then we see works like this, mostly.
I do not recommend this movie to watch at all.
