The Thin Line

A subject that rarely gets the attention it desperately needs. It seems taboo to say that "yes, I am depressed" for fear of being labeled as "crazy" or "messed up in the head". When I did speak up about it, I was told to "just get over it" and "it's all in your head" or "you need to see your doctor". I tried all of this and I was placed, first on Citalopram (a substitute for Celexa) than Buspirone (a substitute for Buspar). The first only intensified my fear and made the depression worse, and the second had me in bed by 5pm and sleeping for 14 hours and still depressed. I took things into my own hands and stopped taking the medicine that was dispensed to me like Pez candy. I started writing a journal and talking to someone about my depression, and I cannot say that I "just got over it" as I was advised, I recognize the issues and meet them one day, one situation, one moment at a time. This short film is told from the perspective of the patients and what they are going through and how their cries for help are handled by handing them pills and moving on to the next "nut job" in the waiting room! I hope this gets the chance to be made into a full feature film and the cries of help are heard by the masses!
