Rainn's Best Ride
I just checked out "Code 3" and, man, it was a trip. I was expecting a typical comedy with Rainn Wilson, but this was surprisingly heavy. It follows two totally burned-out paramedics and a rookie over one crazy 24-hour shift, and it's a lot.
What hit me was the authenticity-it really shows how tough the EMS job is. It doesn't shy away from the dark stuff, mixing some truly raw, emotional drama with moments of seriously dark humor. That constant tonal shift works, though. One minute you're laughing at their gallows humor, and the next you're totally punched in the gut by a tragic call.
Wilson's performance as Randy is fantastic; you really feel his exhaustion and cynicism. He nails the snappy, fourth-wall breaking narration that clues you into the messed-up healthcare system. It's a bummer that the rookie character felt a bit generic, like just a foil for Randy.
And it seems like an original story, co-written by a former paramedic, which makes sense why it feels so real.
Is it worth watching? Absolutely. It's a compelling look at first responders. It's not just a comedy; it's a solid drama with real heart and respect for the people doing this impossible job. Go see it.

Actually quite good...
Sure, even without ever having heard about this 2025 comedy titled "Code 3", of course I opted to sit down and watch it as I had the opportunity to do so.
Writers Christopher Leone and Patrick Pianezza put together a good and interesting script. It was not only an enjoyable and entertaining movie, but it also actually did give me something to think about, especially the part where Randy (played by Rainn Wilson) ranted on about how EMS paramedics are the ones to see some of the most terrible and haunting of things and carry it with them. I never really gave that much of anything though before. So thumbs up to the writers for that.
There were some familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Rainn Wilson, Rob Riggle and Lil Rel Howery. The acting performances in the movie were good. I was really impressed with Rainn Wilson's performance, because he carried the movie phenomenally.
This movie is certainly well-worth sitting down to watch. And it is one that I warmly recommend.
My rating of director Christopher Leone's 2025 movie "Code 3" lands on a well-deserved seven out of ten stars.

For a cheap, flawed & unpolished dramedy it's deceptively strong (thanks to admirable writing)
Paramedic dramedy "Code 3" is cheap, flawed & unpolished (for example Chrisopher Leone's debut direction is basic tv level) but Leone's screenplay (co-written with fellow first-timer Patrick Pianezza (former paramedic)) is deceptively strong. It follows a 24hr shift of an ambulance crew (burnt-out cynic Rainn Wilson, driver Lil Rey Howery, & ride-along Aimee Carrero) as they face horrors, heartache, abuse, frustration, and a-hole doc Rob Riggle. It's mission is to factually show the exhausting misery & suffering these everyday heroes endure for near minimum wage - with some levity & even laughs... and it pulls it off. Props to Leone & Pianezza - and all paramedics.
Rainn's best to date
I was a little hesitant to watch this, as Rainn Wilson has been in some rather odd and uninspired movies, with more misses than hits.
I'm glad to report this is probably his best work yet. He plays a paramedic, expressing his life both in his role and wall breaking monologues.
I'd be hesitant classifying it as a comedy, though. There are maybe a couple chuckle moments, but it's mostly a drama, leaving you frustrated with the state of the system at times. Even so, it's an important message to spread, and I was ultimately glad to have watched.

A great surprise
I expected a silly comedy, along the lines of American Pie. Instead, I got a great dramedy. Great acting, script, dark humour, good pace, everything you need for a very good movie. It was infuriating and hilarious at the same time. I really enjoyed it. I kept putting off watching it, because I was not in the mood for silliness, but it was not silly at all.

- AnecdotesThe cast was given paramedicine training and took advice from EMS personnel to ensure that dialog and actions taken were geared towards realistic portrayal. This is a hard shift away from "Hollywood" storytelling in regards to the dramatic portrayal of EMS in general across filmmaking.
- GaffesWhen Randy uses his stethoscope on Vicente back in the ambulance he places the ear tips in the ears backwards.
