Season 5 opens with exactly the energy the series needed. Episode 1 is a bold return to roots-New York, literary references, Joe's haunting voiceovers-while also showing how far he's come (and fallen). It's introspective, chilling, and strangely poetic.
The episode sets the tone perfectly. Joe is more terrifyingly composed than ever, yet you can sense the chaos bubbling underneath. The reintroduction of old ghosts and new enemies is smooth and layered with subtle tension. It feels like the calm before a psychological hurricane.
The writing is brilliant, and Penn Badgley is magnetic as always. The show's ability to make you root for someone so twisted while questioning your own morality? Still unmatched.
If this first episode is anything to go by, Season 5 isn't just about tying things up-it's about elevating the entire series. You is back, and it's better than ever.

This season definitely starts better than the others, the start fo the ep being with Joe's story until now, and the rest of the episode showing that no matter how good the life of joe is, he enjoys killing, and how the episode ends with Joe and the glass cage, also the new girl I forgot her name, this reminds me of season 3 love and marrienne, he's already got everything, he just want sm new, and that is what will set up Joe's end in the last episode, also this season holds exactly what the other seasons don't, stress, not knowing what will happen and how, season 4 and 2 had a bit but they also lacked pacing, while in the first episode I can say pacing is NOT a problem.
This takes me back to quarantine when i first watched this show. I was bored saw some show called YOU felt interested in what that eveneans to my surprise... episode ones ending. Anyway now that we start this im getting old season 1 vibes back in new york my city.. i just finished my classes time to binge watch this final season. If i had to guess hes going to jail but before that someone exposes him... I dont really like kate nothing to like unlike the others kate really has nothing that stands out nothing that makes you really like her or hate her its just bland to be honest joe is probably gonna cheat anyway.
The first episode of the season was really good. It started off strong and got me interested and It felt like a real upgrade from season The new characters they introduced were actually way more interesting than the ones from last season. They already seem more developed and fit into the story with better pacing and way better cinematography. There were a few surprising moments I didn't expect, and it ended in a way that made me want to keep watching well it was a banger
If feels like a real last season everything comes together there is some scene that take u back to season 1 10/10 first episode.
Just finished the first episode. Before watching it, I read some critics' reviews. One of the most popular ones rated it badly. I felt a bit upset for a few seconds. But honestly, even if every critic gave it zero stars, I would've still watched it-it's in my top 10 shows of all time.
The first episode, the start of season 5, is better than the start of season 4. The whole coming back to New York, the nostalgia, the vibe, and the way the episode ended-it was really good. The new character, Bronte, is instantly likeable. Charlotte Ritchie is one of my favourites. I've even watched some of her below-average shows just for her. I didn't like her character much last season, but it's getting better now.
There were some problems too in this episode. I like it when things move fast. This one kind of did, but they even sped up the narration in some parts-like 2x or 3x speed-and I had to pause to hear it properly. Also, I don't like it when the killing feels too easy, like the victim is just sitting there waiting to die. That's how it felt in this one. But still, watching Joe in a basketball cap killing people is always fun.
Anyway, I'm excited for the next episode. Hoping it only gets better.
3/5.

- AnecdotesThe store next to Moonie's is called 'Nirvana' - likely a nod to Love and Forty's parents' business in season two - 'Anavrin' which is Nirvana spelled backwards.
