Well done
Dramatic Emotional
I felt what the characters felt, i've been there. I was stunned that a film can make me remember those feelings. Fear, panic, compassion and tears means a job well done.
Sad piece of history
I was bothered by the flashbacks and flashforwards and it took me till the end of the movie to realize those scenes at his mom's were towards the end of the story actually. They felt older with the hairstyle so that's a minus, I don't think we were given enough hints really.
Really powerful ending, although with that family I'm afraid Luke dug himself into a hole.
LE Both leads are British lol.
LLE Is a nineties movie now a period movie? It's beginning to fell like it more and more. It's concerning.
Quiet, raw and surprisingly moving!
The film has a few moments that feel very raw and intimate. Some people will call them graphic but to me they felt honest. It wasn't done for shock. It was more about the connection between the characters and how careful they were with each other.
I don't usually sit through films easily but there was something about this one that kept me watching. Maybe it was the performances or the mood of it all. It isn't a loud or fast film. It's quiet, moody and you have to let yourself sink into it.
I wouldn't say it's perfect. There are times where it drifts and you wonder where it's going. But in the end I felt glad I'd watched it. It stays with you after the credits. That's rare for me.

- AnecdotesDirector Carmen Emmi considered having Russell Tovey play Andrew a dream come true, since he's a huge fan of the HBO series Looking (2014) and wasn't sure if he would be interested in the role.

Andrew: Dear Gus... or whatever your name is... the day you visited my church reminded me of a time when I thought my secret would kill me. Through my family, I found a way to carry on. And I don't want my kids to know a world without me. I want to teach them everything I know. I want them to live truthfully. I'm glad I met you. It's difficult to be angry when I see that you struggle in hiding, too. But I need you to know that it's not too late for you. I hope you can free yourself of the shame. Maybe one day I'll be in San Francisco. And maybe you'll find your San Francisco, too. Until then. Andrew.
