The Man Who Played with Fire

The man who played with fire, a title that sounds like a Stieg Larsson book and aptly so, picks up the trail that Larsson himself left, in the hunt of for who killed Olof Palme. I feel fortunate to have found this as it's very professional and informative as well as being engaging and tangentially entertaining - in a string of inconsequential and unnecessary documentaries that I've viewed over the last several months alone, this is not that but rather the opposite entirely. It's not some story of a stalker on social media or all those other, not trivial but not really vital either right? Thus I feel secure in recommending that it's worth your time.

Without doubt this is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. It is extremely well crafted and presented and considering the the amount of documentary evidence involved, it is very well edited. Although it is 4 episodes it does not seem over long due to the way the story unfolds.

It is deeply disturbing how politics, governments, the police and officialdom in general, supposedly acting on the public's behalf, can get away with more or less anything.

Having seen a number of programs relating to the Olof Palme case previously, I knew what it was about from the beginning.

By the end I knew where the drama The Unlikely Murderer (2021) came from (this is worth watching, but I think it only portrays a very flawed possibility for the killing).

Like JFK, I doubt if the truth will ever be out there, but hopefully somebody who isn't corruptible may clean out the apparently rotten core of this whole investigation and discover the truth.
