I really enjoyed this film. It's clearly low budget, but the creative team have done a lot with what they were given.
It encourages thought of the intricacies of human, especially family, relationships, and how difficult love can be to navigate. The romance is strong and had me rooting for the characters, while truly feeling the bonds between parents and children, especially mother and daughter. Comedy flows naturally through the film, it feels very real.
It had me crying and laughing, and I'm excited to see what Turner can do when given more time, money and creative freedom. It's a feat she should be proud of, and I'm eager to watch what's next.

I am not sure what I just wasted my time on. The best part of this movie is the poster, because it predicts how the viewer will look after watching this film. I even had 4 eggs in my hand... and became peckish so early in the morning.
I don't think this is a result of a bad writer, a bad director, or a bad producer! No, this was like a Christmas film made for a family done in a way to be finalised quickly and fill up the shrinking budget without caring for anything else... exploiting Christmas to the max, I guess, like everyone else.
Sorry, if you are vegetarian... this chook should be on my plate for Christmas, and send the team who made this movie to the Papua New Guinea jungle-it is summer there-and it can be quite hot this time of the year (if the right tribe finds them).

What a lovely watch. It's obviously not a blockbuster, and very much aimed at children and families. It's really heartwarming, and my kids were laughing all the way through.
It's a niche, but relatable, festive family film. My daughter has dealt with some tricky family relationships, which has been very confusing at times, and it was really refreshing to see something that she resonated with on screen. Amy's portrayal is really honest for her age, and is my daughter's new favourite character!
It was a very personable, wholesome film. It would be unreasonable to expect Hollywood, but it's a great film from an underrepresented part of the world.

Very much like Last Christmas the direction isn't great, the plot confusing, the title misleading, (the chicken is a weak trope to tie scenes together) but we just don't care.
Because it warms the heart, restores your faith in being a good person for its own sake. Where taking responsibility is honorable and right - and lovable and not preachy. This is a delight, a joy.
Yes the good guy is black (but we didn't care and you won't) and the bad guy (ex husband) white. I don't care. My wife, daughter and I loved it because it's wholesome. The relationship between Martin and Robin feels authentic and the two kids are super.
