Drawn in by the time-travel element this was my first philippines film. Not quite knowing what to expect and also aware of the terrible reviews. Well I found it delightful. No great special effects yet none were required to tell the story. I was charmed by the quirky Ningning (Yassi Pressman). And could easily see why our hero Han (Ruru Maddrid) fell for her. His character struggled with motivation and self-esteem. He played the part well and for this reason Han came across as a bit dull and un-confident. It reminded me of my own youth, what it was like to be young, in love, and then to lose. I found the love story emotional and both leads played their parts well.. Highly recommend for those that are looking for a bit of a different time-travel story. So I'll give it good 7.
If you thought of 50 things you'd do if you went back in time before you were even born, none of those things were done by the main character.
That just one of the issues with this film. The other main issue is the character initially spends a lot of the limited time he has in the past (15 minutes of this movie) in convincing the other characters he is from the future. What the?
The Video City store is always empty of customers. Did anyone who made this film live in 1995 & go into a video store? It would be full of people most of the time. They have a video camcorder in 1995 but it's a model from the mid 2000's. A couple of other continuity issues but they would be spoilers. So this movie lacks believability.
Many scenes I kept thinking, what the heck is he doing? He only has limited time.
The ending is not very good either. I won't give it away but it felt like it was just a quick idea to tack on. Didn't answer any questions we had.
For a movie that has a sort of backstory about filmmaking, this film fails at filmmaking .

Video City: Be Kind, Please Rewind
Good plot but bad execution even on the story. It's 1995, but set and even the costumes aren't from that time. Obviously low budget. Sayang film student, all they watch are pop culture flicks. This movie is "live within their world" type.
Andaming bags na sana classic na lang. Saka yung snaku din na kinakain ni Yassi, iba yung cover ng time na yun, sorry fan ako ng snaku.
Moments of Love. Yung kila dingdong. Yung sa telepono sila nag-uusap. -- my friend and I agreed that this was much better time travel film.
Don't get me wrong i like/love time travel stories and movies. But, this one just didn't hit the mark. Saying it's a five because I still remember the premise even though I watched it last year.

Do you know how big the leap is between a terrible movie and a bad one?
This movie banks on the rabid fans of the individuals in this film. It will lull fans into thinking this is a good film because their "idols" star in it. I TRULY HOPE the people behind this movie have actual friends who hold them accountable and tell them how atrocious this film is. It has a broken plot and story. So much to the point that when you see this film you actually acknowledge the faults and pinpoint the differences between them. There is no redeeming quality. It is one of the worst movies I have had to sit through. This could've been an advertisement on YouTube and even then I would have skipped it. I would have bought premium subscription on YouTube just to not see this again.
In 5 words: This movie has no life.
There is nothing in this movie that will make you say "wow, this is good". But I bet you people will say it is. Under the guise of their favorite actors/actresses are in it. Let's say, you are an individual asked what about this movie can come off as good, what would the answer be?

Nobody ever knows why they made this movie about a man goes back in time to a discontinued video rental store. The story looked horrible and the product placements are frequentless. I felt bad that Viva and GMA made this because everybody wanted to stick with streaming instead. One day if only Video City will be brought back alongside MagnaVision and Odyssey. But who cares? Plus, the actors are a bit too woody to say the least. Overall, I gave this film 1/10 because who cares about this nostalgia at all. I'm a bit surprised that nobody is making a sequel that would definitely hurt the entire movie at all.
