The story is inspired by the board game "Loups-Garou de Thiercelieux", first released in 2001. Characters with powers from the film are also featured in the game. The aim of the game is to find all the werewolves before the villagers die.
Wilhelm scream can be heard in the first fight scene.
Although records show that even peasants in medieval France used some form of bedding, ranging from straw pallets to low wooden frames depending on wealth and region, the film does not show any type of bed during the family's time in the Middle Ages.
The thumbs-up gesture, often seen as modern, dates back to the first century and was associated with gladiator combat in Ancient Rome. By the medieval period, it symbolized trust or agreement. During the scene where Marie is about to be incinerated, a young girl gives her a thumbs-up after her speech. Given the historical fear of being linked to witchcraft, such an open gesture (and the silent approval of the other women) would not have occurred in that context.
