The story of Palestine is one of injustice spanning more than a century. For generations, Palestinians have shared their narratives of struggle and resistance against colonial rule and occupation. By illuminating a pivotal period in Palestinian history-the years leading up to the 1948 Nakba-Annemarie Jacir helps viewers and the world better understand the events and atrocities that laid the foundation for the Nakba and its ongoing consequences, including the genocide in Gaza today. This is a profoundly timely and important historic film. Authentic and powerful.

Absolutely phenomenal work from Annemarie Jacir and her crew. This was a beautiful and much needed film that covers an underrepresented yet critical juncture in history. Not to mention the powerful and stunning performances of the cast. There is really nothing like this out there, truly groundbreaking for Palestinian film. Would recommend anyone who can to go out and see it!

I was blessed to have the opportunity to watch Palestine 36 at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was incredible to see Palestine through the lens of the British Mandate era-a perspective rarely explored on screen. What struck me most is how deeply it resonates today: the film reminds us that we are not just witnessing when it all began, but how it continues to this day.

The passion and sincerity of the cast and crew live in every frame. This is not just a film-it's a piece of history, truth, and art woven together with remarkable care. Palestine 36 is a must-watch for everyone.

An impeccable screenplay; stunning cinematography; rich complex characters & beautifully directed and acted.... A faultless piece of art and an important historical document... bravo.

I empathize with everything the filmmakers are going through right now as well as the difficulty of making this film. For the wider world, though, it comes at just the right time. Hopefully it's able to educate audiences who don't normally think too much about this part of the world.

At the Toronto International Film Festival, the film received such a long standing ovation that the Q&A was cut short.

As a film, it's more of a reenacted history lesson. Eye opening and worth watching but don't expect a linear story line or character development. Though the same characters appear throughout, we don't know their names or much else about them.
