    Nothing short of extraordinary....

In episodes 1 to 24 of the series Nitro produced what (yes, I know, lots of "debating" about this in the Groups) many consider THE BEST ANIME OF ALL TIME, a story that not only de-constructs time travel to a degree beyond anything Hollywood has ever attempted; but, at the same time, in the same story, has possibly the most memorable ensemble cast in the history of modern entertainment. (And possibly one of the best love stories in modern fiction as well.)

    No mean feat that.

In episode 25 (also reviewed by this writer) they gave themselves a time-out and had some fun with the characters. It's optional, although the scene when Okarin enters US customs and announces he is a Mad Scientist looking to take over the country is ... priceless.

However in this wrapup film the Nitro team are back in force and flexing their muscles. Let's start with the negatives because there are so few: 1. Watching this if you have not seen the first 24 is a waste. Period. It is not a self-contained film. 2. The ending is ambiguous, but, hey, this from a production company that practically invented the word (CHAOS HEAD) so what did you expect.

    The positives:

    1. A movie which is at the same time a sequel and a prequel. How many other writing teams have pulled that off? 2. Will make you cry. Regardless of age or sex, bring the Kleenex. Lots. 3. An examination of scientific mystery - deja vu -- which no one else has attempted. That's a bonus.

    A Beautiful Love Story

While the movie does not progress the overall story and does retract a lot of ground in the OVA and the last episode of the TV-Series, its nonetheless a beautiful movie. Apart from a few minor points there is not much action or tension, its all about personal choices, relationships and loss. It's the 3 chance to see the relationship between Kurisu and Okabe and it is as enjoyable as the previous two. One warning, before you watch this movie you need to watch the TV-Series. You need to know the backstory in order to really appreciate this masterpiece.

Very Emotional and a great film overall

I loved the anime to Steins Gate, It's one of my all time favorite's and has touched me in so many ways. I loved it's storyline, characters, humor, drama, voice acting/writing and overall presentation. This film takes place after the series and it's a great way to end it all. The story in this film is emotional and has everything you expect from the series, the music/animation is great, the characters are wonderful and it's a must see for those that loved the anime like I did. It's not as good as the anime but I loved it from start to end. If you have seen the series you owe it to yourself to see this.

    Crystalline Perfection

This is the greatest movie of all time, bar none.

Steins;Gate is my favourite game of all time, and this movie, as well as the bonus episode released at about the same time, are amazing companions to the main story.

I'm normal a very cold-hearted person, and rarely get emotional in any way, but when I finished this movie, I was reduced to tears. It nearly made me cry as much as the main game, and that's saying a lot.

The way the series dissects time travel and deja-vu while incorporating the most heart-wrenching love story of all time is absolutely breath-taking.

If you hating crying and growing uncomfortably close to drawings of japanese people talking, then steer very, very far from Steins;Gate and its movie.

    wonderfull

Although it is no match to the 2011 series and steps back a bit, this wonderful movie is absolutely worth watching. It again raises the questions that come with time travel, but it all had to be packed in shorter time than the series, and therefor lacks the depth and details the series had. But after watching the series it is a very nice, and sweet, follow up

Rintarou Okabe: Time-leap machines and time machines should never be built! Even if you can figure out how to do it, you should never ever build one!

Kurisu Makise: If I don't do something, you'll vanish. You will never have existed... I have no choice but to change the past!

Rintarou Okabe: And what if you fail? What if it doesn't go well? The answer is simple. You do it again. You keep going back to the past until you succeed. As long as they have the means to go back in time, that's what people will do.

Rintarou Okabe: But it'll only increase the suffering. A change in the past will always affect something else. It will never change in a way that's convenient for you. If you save someone, you will lose someone... Dreams you finally fulfilled won't exist anymore. Your long-held desires will be snatched away, eradicated... and when the change you hoped for doesn't happen, you will have to keep facing that inescapable reality again and again, again and again!

Rintarou Okabe: Do you realize the pain of continuously repeating all of that while bearing the responsibility for all of those losses? Do you understand the fear of losing your humanity after it wears you down?

      Kurisu Makise: But...

Rintarou Okabe: Even if you have the means, the past ust not be changed. You must not turn chance into reality.

Rintarou Okabe: No one knows the future. It's because the past cannot be undone that people can accept all sorts of pain, adversity, and cruel accidnets, yet still move forward.

Kurisu Makise: The what are you going to do, Okabe? You're going to disappear! I... I saw it... A world where you don't exist. A lab with only Mayuri, Hashida, and me... Where nobody remembers you... It was crueler than death! Any mark or meaning of your existence will disappear!

      Rintarou Okabe: ...I don't care.
