Jeopardy!

Absolute rubbish compared with US version. Why does Stephen Fry (who I usually love) have to give an explanation on every question.

Even the prize money is pathetic.

It has got to be said, Stephen Fry is awful at presenting this show. I like him in most things, his acting, comedy, chat shows and he was a good presenter on QI. But he is awful here. He witters on and on and seems patronising to the contestants.

The show itself also pales in comparison to the American original. The American show gives out huge cash prizes and the British version looks cheap alongside that. I also don't understand why they have two rounds of regular Jeopardy before they get into Double Jeopardy, it seems ponderous and slow, which is also down to Stephen Fry's presentation, whereas the American version is snappy, with one round of each.

Jeopardy has been on TV in the US for over 40 years, don't change a winning format.

The standard of questions and contestants is quite high and once you get used to the format, it makes for compelling must see it tomorrow viewing. Some contestants go on a run of daily wins and there is genuine Jeopardy when they gamble some or all of their their prize pot. Stephen Fry, the erudite host often adds interesting facts on may of the questions. It se ms a lot more erudite and calmer paced that it's US originator. And a fair amount of humour too. It got some bad press when thick folk who can only cope with Tipping Point level of questions ranted on. I do hope more series are commissioned.

Steven Fry is horrible in this role. I can't believe they gave him a second season. Certainly not more erudite but on a par with the original US version in level of questions. Both versions of course have a slightly domestic bias in some categories. Whereas the previous reviewer describer it as calmer paced, I find it frustratingly slow. It seems amateurish because of Steven Fry's presentation.

Steven Fry is good in many roles, Blackadder, QI etc but not this, I'm afraid.

I admit I gave up after a couple of episodes and perhaps Steven became more comfortable in the role and Improved. I leave it to others to decide..
