This was a excellent documentary in that it provided commentary, opinions and evidence from both sides. If you believe the Menendez Brothers are innocent, this documentary will support your beliefs. If you don't believe their defense, this will support you.
It goes step-by-step for each trial (mostly the first trial) for both the prosecution and the defense. Everyone knows they are guilty of killing their parents, they admitted to it eventually before the trial. The point is, did they deserve the conviction of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, or, should they have been given a lesser sentence of manslaughter of which they would have been released from prison by now.
Several people against them provide commentary including the prosecutor who is still bitter about the jury in the first trial and considers them idiots, to a crotchety radio host who suggested woman should not be allowed to serve on a jury for a major trial because they are too sensitive.
The people supporting them included Adam Corrolla (a producer of this series), Rosie Odonnel, Mark Geragos and couple jurors from the first trial.
It clearly shows how a lot of evidence, testimony and a theory of defense would not be allowed in the second trial, namely, "imperfect self-defense." The documentary insinuates that Los Angeles DA, Gil Garcetti pushed for a guilty verdict on the second trial, no matter what. With all the evidence and statements that were omitted by the judge on the sexual abuse aspect, he was successful with life sentences for both brothers.
New evidence including a handwritten letter to their cousin and a new victim coming forward that was raped by their father, Jose Menendez, an appeal is in process to get them released.
A very captivating and complete documentary representing each side fairly and sticking to the facts that are known.
