Operation War Thunder

Honestly I was blown away by the quality of this film after doing some research into the people behind it. This is a super low budget film and the cinematography is amazing. The British humour makes it an absolute laugh and at the same time it contained some really heart-felt moments. The dynamic between the two main characters is relatable and authentic. The dark undertone of the individual lives of the main characters is cleverly written. The sci-fi element is also interestingly woven through the story and the combination with comedy is quirky and innovative. All in all a great low-budget independent film that absolutely deserves a watch!

I gave this film a whirl after seeing the directors previous film 'The Shimian' back when it was released in 2022 and I wanted to see how this film compares in quality, and how they have improved.

I was thoroughly impressed by the craftsmanship of 'Operation War Thunder'. Working with a small budget and a relatively small crew, I believe that they managed to create a film that had a great use of humour, serious themes and I found myself genuinely enjoying how charming it was.

It's one of those movies where you can watch and see just how much fun the crew had when orchestrating the production. Give it a whirl if you have some free time.

Basically, if you're setting yourself up to watch your big Friday/Saturday night movie, this isn't the one to go for. Indeed, I'd give it a miss on several other days as well. Although, on one of those days when you're bored stiff, you've somehow managed to watch everything else that you fancied and this is the only thing available, then give it a go. The acting of smaller part players is quite laughable, the plot - dodgy though it is - is distinct madness, and many other aspects are also pretty grim.

However, on the plus side, it does contain several proper good laughs, the main two actors are not terrible, and in general, it has a quintessential charm that garage made movies can sometimes have.

Overall, far from the worst thing I've seen and given the budget of what looks to be about three hundred quid, not a bad job.

Operation War Thunder is a brilliantly chaotic mix of drama, comedy, and sci-fi horror that will have you laughing, cringing, and gripping your seat all at once all with an "I'm not gonna cry" lump in your throat.

The story follows estranged brothers Gary and Tommy Pratt, who reunite after their father's death to locate his will. What they find instead is a lot worse: long-buried family tensions, a suspiciously enthusiastic muesli-loving neighbour, a CB. Radio weirdo and, of course, a visitor from another planet.

What makes this film stand out is how it tackles serious issues like grief, mental health, bullying , and complex family dynamics, all while never losing its sense of humour. One moment you're laughing at the absurdity of the brothers' bickering, and the next, you're sucked heart wrenching drama. Then into gripping sci-if action and repeat. .. It's a wild ride, and just when you think things can't get weirder-they do.

Equal parts heartwarming ,gripping and hilarious, Operation War Thunder is a must-watch! I loved every minute of it ...

Write a role for yourself so you can act the lines you wrote and then attempt to direct the wreck you created. A very very bad idea.

Act or Write or Direct.

Don't do all three or the result is this thing you call a movie that you or your crew gave a 10/10 score.

Its not a 10 and you know it, so why are you wanna be "I can be everything" kids think you can write act and direct at the same time?

120 Million dollars down the drain is the cost of that lesson to Francis Ford Coppola, ever hear of him? Rather than stick to directing which is what he is good at, he thought one morning, oh wait, I can write! And write he did, a wreck and a flop worth 120 million dollars.

Please guys stick to one career path and save your poor audience the agony of sitting through films that then you get friends and crew to grade at 10/10 when a 2 is best you can muster.

Stick to one field of work.
